McEvoy & Armitage to Play Round 1
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/s ... -qr62.html
"''You always look for a few young players to step up and this pre-season we've had that in [Ben] McEvoy and [David] Armitage - they'll play round one. James [Gwilt] and [Jarryn] Geary have also come up strongly, and all our key players have had great summers."
Does that rule out Gardiner being fit for this week?

Gardi may not play, but equally the more mobile Ben may be prefrred to King.
Personally I rate King as still better in the ruck, but Ben has improved markedly. However Ben does far nore around the ground and could bea handy ruck/forward. I also believe that King will not improve whereas Ben with another twenty games under his belt could bea much better players.
So for mine I would prefer Ben to King to get the games into him.

and here i though Jesse smith was on the injury list aswell as Winmarmatrix wrote:''We've had a great summer, we made the grand final of the NAB Cup and the whole side is available except for Sam Fisher [knee],'' Lyon said. ''It's all been pretty similar to last year, actually.

Well to fair he did say whole side, and not whole list...and neither Jess or Winmar are yet in our best side (though Jesse has the ability to be).st_Trav_ofWA wrote:and here i though Jesse smith was on the injury list as well as Winmarmatrix wrote:''We've had a great summer, we made the grand final of the NAB Cup and the whole side is available except for Sam Fisher [knee],'' Lyon said. On Raph/Dempster..maybe they are now fit enough to play?
You would imagine though that Gwilt would keep Raph out as Raph has not had the gametime.
If Raph had as reported a Grade 1 hammy, he should be over it by now.

I think its a 'knankle'.bigcarl wrote:i thought fisher was an ankle

Up against Seaby and Mumford, I reckon Big Mac will be fine. Besides, I think we could do with a more mobile ruck unit against the Swans.saintsRrising wrote:No.Beno88 wrote:

Yeehaaa, I can't wait. My TV blew up so I have a stand in at the moment while it is getting fixed. Not really the same as on the big screen but at least I get to watch the footy.
Am looking forward to seeing a decent game. I know a win is a win but I would like to see us beat Sydney by more than 1 point. I'll settle for 2 points maybe.

Damn, bad luck to a bloke who is giving it his all at the moment. Really wants to make the grade this kid.Batnoe wrote:reported that Miles has stress fracture in foot
Stress fractures are a real pain, and I just can't believe how frequent they are at the elite level. You current day players can correct me - but they are caused from lots of running on hard surfaces?? How frustrating that must be.
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

Though prior to that he suffered shins splints after putting on a lot of muscle after joining the Saints.Solar wrote:playing the last few years at softer vfl level and now played a month at the dome and his feet go.... put two and two togetheryipper wrote:Damn, bad luck to a bloke who is giving it his all at the moment. Interesting that Manchester United, who probably have one of the best and biggest sports science departments in the world of ball sports, insist on "stiffer" boots for all of it's players.

Bradshaw........2 weeks

Mate on Afl site they say that Hawks and swans is last weeks and they will update when they know more
He will be underdone even if Bradshaw is available
Carn Saints
Good to hear that McEvoy and Armitage will have the faith put in them after solid pre seasons. I too hope that Gardiner comes up but wonder whether we will be more conservative?
For What its worth I think Geary and Gwilt probably deserve a game too.
Raph and Dempster to play VFL and Peake just not up to it IMO.
