Who will be the surprise selection for Round 1
As we are a week away when the reality of a new season beginning when we see our round 1 team, who do you nominate as a surprise selection.
I have two, Stanley or Peake.
I have two, Stanley or Peake.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.
Wouldn't be one bit surprised to see Peake in the team.
Realistically, there won't be any.
However, if it were to happen, in order I'd say: Lynch, A Smith, Stanley, Heyne... would be the chances.
I'll be bloody dark if McEvoy doesn't play. Surely, he's in the 22 now. King to give him a rest every six weeks or so (assuming Gardy comes up soon).

Well Raph would be a surprise as he has been out with no games anywhere..
2 of Gardi, King or Ben
Armo would seem to have done enough....
So Peake, Geary, Gwilt and Dempster are probably slugging it out..
With Fisher out injured I would now be surprised if Gwilt missed..

Doubt Dempster will play going on the moonboot at the family day

Don't know if it will be a surprise but I expect Miles to play and hold his place in the side. He's the quiet achiever from the NAB Cup for mine.

I would be surprised if Peake plays, doesnt look to play saints footy yet if you ask me. Work ethic too low and ball movement to slow.
Gardiner or Raph coming in with out a praccy match or Kosi going to backline and Lynch/Stanley having a run are about the only likely surprises I see. More than likely there will be no first gamers though. IMO.

Maybe this year?

I think he has been trying to work hard and has been a goodly number of tackles which indicates at least a reasonable workrate.rexy wrote:I would be surprised if Peake plays,.....
Work ethic too low ...
.
I think he is still struggling to come to grips with all the set plays and set-ups causing him to look alittle lost at times.

think you'll find it was mcqualter wearing 32 and peake wearing 30, but i see your point.overitalready wrote:Peake is OK IMHO. one of the Nab cup games, when i saw the no 32, he looks just like James Trianidis !!
given we're playing sydney, i wouldn't be surprised if dempster was the surprise selection in round one, and i'd be extremely surprised if it was smith, because he's too light-bodied.

If Lenny plays, then we probably don't play a first gamer. We may take a cautious approach with Lenny and maybe Gardiner. Armo and Gwilt are in regardless. I think Geary and Peake are too. If Lenny misses we may see a first gamer - either Smith or Miles. If Gardiner plays, either King or McEvoy misses. Stanley is no chance.
Yeah nah pleasing positive
