bobmurray, just what do you mean by those rolling eyes :?: :?:

saintbrat is mentioned in the St Kilda membership brochure for the regional contact in her area for membership information...

I feel your comment is insulting to, not only a member of this site, but a official contact for membership in the St Kilda membership brochure...

FFS it's not the "limelight", it's about our CLUB wake the flower up

Any wonder posters are leaving :(
whatever
You insult a poster by the rolling eyes and yet she is endorsed by our Club in OUR membership brochure....

and your response is "whatever"...

May I suggest you stop with any form of insult, maybe more so from someone that represents the Club in some way

Your response is just typical from posters that are just ignorant and have little to say when put to the task...

Yep, carry on with your misdirected insults and this site will go further down the gutter...

Yep.."whatever" great response, how about an apology for being ignorant and get the forum back on track instead of misdirected sarcasm

No you don't need to explain it to me or anyone just why you suggested that saintbrat likes the limelight, at least I am on some "high horse"..

FACT is saintbrat does heaps for OUR Club and believe me I am not riding some called "high horse"...

To suggest that this poster "likes the limelight" and yet is endorsed by our Club and then to hint that I am "riding some sort of high horse" is laughable IMO..

If you do not have the dignity to digress from your rolling eyes about saintbrat and label me on some "high horse" well go for it IMO.....

saintbrat is not in to any of this crapola and I just wanted to defend her on her non stop ST Kilda campaign, that she is so devoted to and spends most of her time after work on anything to do with the St Kilda Football Club.

Hey why don't you ring the Club and find out????

And flower your "whatever" remark...

You insulted a poster that has never insulted anyone and just reports anything that's available. Your post that she loves the limelight with rolling eyes is an insult not just to her personally, but to many on this site...

May I suggest you take this so called "high horse" and ride off somewhere

All emoticons (icons?) are great when used in the right context.

Yep, I do believe you suggested I was in some way "riding on my high horse"...
when I defended a poster on here that has links to our "Club"...

again, the poster that you stated "loves the limelight" is mentioned in the St Kilda Membership Brochure ....

LOL how good do you look in suggesting that saintbrat "loves the limelight" and try to turn it around
"blow out of proportion".
It is not about blowing out of proportion, its about suggesting that one of our posters "loves the limelight"...

and you do not have the decency to apologise for your post and continue to have a dig ...

Yep, gee you are really good and are no doubt proud of this .........

Part time reader, 3rd time poster here.

It seems to me from my perspective that the mods/admin should be doing more to clean up this place. Currently mods do not = gods.

The first thing I noticed when I first came here was the disorganised and muddled all the threads were. Threads that were small enough to not
even warrant a new thread and also threads that are just plain stupid but yet I never seen any locks in this place. Then there is this thread which is clearly off-topic but again, nothing will be done.

Also reading the rules I came across:

1a. No posting in a disrespectful, defamatory, harassing, offensive, adversarial, baiting, offensive, sarcastic or otherwise insulting or demeaning manner. Excessive baiting and sarcasm are particularly prohibited.

I have seen example of this plenty of times and as far as I am aware nothing has been done about of this.

The mods really need to start doing something about this place. I think bans and probations are in order.

/2¢

wouldn't it just be ironic if I were banned?

3 posts in total, you have no credit to be commenting on this topic

If only we had a tounge in cheek little facey thing

This place use to be great, but now all you seem to read is other people rubbishing others just to make them feel more worthy or something (not to sure as he scratches his head)

Love the footy talk but yawn at alot on here now and just shake my head.

And yes I know I may cop it from others for saying something but hey just another yawn fest.

Mods need to clean this site up.

they tried and are still trying...but apparently in the eyes of some they cleaned up the wrong parts, or the wrong people, cos their efforts continue to be met with derision

Not to hard just lock a thread once the usual crap starts, to bad if the thread was decent to start it is how it ends up time and time again.

Lock the bloody thread and start again on the topic if we have to and if it ends up the same lock it again.

This will show others that the Mods are serious about thread hijacking ect.

I have read a few threads this morning and they are all just others saying your owned and you insulted this other poster with a rolling eyes ect.

Bloody hell whats going on here, I dont read every day like I used to but I still like to get to a decent thread and check it out but you just end up with the same old my opinion means more than yours crap half the time I do not even understand where most of it is coming from, it is like a long term internet fight that just drags on and on and on (yawn)

Have your opinion and move on, if someone disagrees then that is ok is it not, why do we have to prove that our opinions mean more than others all the time, we even have posters answering for others it is a joke.

Agreee totally..but surely thats the responsibility of the posters involved to be accountable for what they post, not the mods for failing to clean it up.

Just on the post locking thing..every time mods lock a thread they are met with a hailstorm of "Oh why did you do that, there was nothing worng it was just good honest discussion you are repressing free speech. it was just an opinion"

Just at the moment there are sone people on here with pretty strong and varied views on how a site should be moderated. Thats not a problem, the trouble is that when its not moderated to their exact specifications they are making a huge deal of it. The thread locking is a classic example. You want them locked, others dont..and theres plenty of complaining as a result

Maybe lock the posters that reduce the thread to mindless personal abuse ????

Interesting though that the comments are now coming from different quarters.

You can't just lump this as being 'in the eyes of some' as the issue is clearly more widespread than that.

Any abuse in a thread deserves the following:

1. Edit the offending post and leave a "content removed due to abuse" comment as a reminder.

If a poster continues to get his posts removed, he will reform. And you are sending a message to other posters.

For example in this thread alone, there are editing opportunities and PMs to be sent to individual posters.

2. Issue a warning in the thread (this is done on SS as I have seen it on occasion, though largely ignored)

3. If a thread descends into abuse, lock it. In any forum. My opposition to locking threads is when the reason is given as "this conversation is going around in circles". Abuse yes. Content no.

That is moderation on a consistent basis.

Just to clarify.....the whole sentence/paragraph would be deleted in my Mod world, not just the offending words.

As has been shown by my learned colleagues, the 'edit' can be used just as effectively as the swear words!

I was the same with Duff beer...the local pub was selling it for $20 a carton just to get rid of it. Of course, no-one in their right mind would drink the crap.
