I have deleted it
I finally did it, deleted the 2009 Grand Final from my hard drive recorder.
Didn't actually watch, though I have seen replays of the game on TV over the last 6 months.
Decided that I don't need to go through the pain again and no matter how many times I watch it, I know what happens, we lose.
Time to move on, the 2010 season holds much promise and just hope I'll be burning the 2010 grand Final onto a disc to keep because the result is one we will love.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Still on ours, as well as the Qual and the Prelim. I've watched both of those, can't see myself watching 09 till we win won, but can't quite delete it either.

I moved on once i'd made the long slow walk down Brunton Avenue straight after the game.....
When i boarded the train i couldn't help thinking....
If you barrack for the Saints, you're bound to be disappointed, and i was....
I have no expectations for 2010...just hope...
hope we find a FF.......

Will we pick up a player in the SSP window
we all have ways of dealing with the pain.
after the grand final i packed away all my saints gear so i had nothing to remind me, went out to get bent with a fellow sainter in brunswick. this magic pixie comes up to me and my mate and asks if we would like to buy any mushrooms. i hadn't had a bite to eat all day, and though a bit confused at the steep price of the fungi, i continued to fill the gap in my stomach. 5 hours later.. i came to in coburg.. completely lost. next day i could hardly remember my name let alone the GF.
will never watch the game. maybe if we won the next 5 grannies.

Still have it stored on the HD. Not sure why. Can never really imagine watching it. It's weird, was stone cold sober watching the game but from the moment the full time siren blew, it's always been a blur.

Re: I have deleted it
Cant beleive you even thought about watching it, I still think I would do damage to the TV if I watched it EVER again .3rd generation saint wrote:I finally did it, deleted the 2009 Grand Final from my hard drive recorder.

Cant wait for that next win so I can forget a little more about that last loss (that really matters)

Like 97 I have also kept it.
Don't ever plan to watch it.
But like many others can't bring myself to delete it.
I guess playing in a GF is a pinnacle for a club.
So why would you delete a key moment of our history.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

I couldnt bring myself to watch it again. I got up and walked out of a mates house because they were trying to show me the replay thinking they were being funny. They are lucky I only walked out rather than putting my foot through their tv.
I agree with the football promos thing, get physically sick seeing geelong and the cup.

Becuase history says we did not win, how is that a key moment?Enrico_Misso wrote:Like 97 I have also kept it.

Making them and not winning is just the worst thing ever to happen to a club so delete it and get rid of the burder in your mind knowing you have the option to watch it.
Dont just get rid of them, start a fire with them next time your camping or just need to warm up

I can't watch any footage of the game. I cried after the match, sitting in the Social Club members section behind the goals at the Punt Road end...and I can't guarantee myself that seeing parts of the game (let alone the entire thing) would yield a different result.
But I can't tape over it...or the pre-match...or anything like that.
One thing that particularly upsets me (yet I have watched it again) is a video put together by Tim Lane of the 1966 players talking about their experience on their own day and their thoughts in the lead up to the 2009 Grand Final, which was shown in the pre-match stuff around middayish. Listening to them talk about '66 and their desire of St Kilda winning another flag...and to know what happened later that day really gets to me.

I have watched it- once over a few goes in the days after. Call me crazy, but I felt the need to see it again, without the stress of actually being there. I guess at the time there were lots of comments being made on here about the whys and hows etc and I just wanted to have a fresh view as it always looks a little different on tv than live, especially given how bad the conditions were that day. Having done that once, I couldn't do it again and it sat on my IQ for ages. I only deleted it in the lead up to the NAB this year as I wanted to tape the Collingwood nab game and didn't really have enough room and it was taking up so much space...even though I hadn't watched it since sept. So its gone...
Watched the last qtr of the bulldogs prelim at mum and dad's the other week. Enjoyed that though...but sad knowing what happened the next week.

Stress and Footy
Is there any other Footy Tragics out there like me?
AT the "66 GF final siren, I just stood there. I was so full of emotion I could'nt speak or anything.
Nowadays when I watch Footy, even if we are 30 points up at half time, and they kick a point in the last half, I feel angina, and all stressed out.
Yet at last years Granny, I could not get into the game. I never really felt stressed at any time. Big time disappointment, but no real stress (except after climbing all those stairs).
I thoguth, this is the new, tougher, me. No more stress watching the footy. Then the first NAB Cup game, against Collingwood. I was all stressed out again. The next week was just as tight, but I was'nt really stressed. Even the NAB GF I was'nt stressed. Maybe I really couldnt of cared less if we won or lost. (Except against the Pies of course).
