Do the players drive to the ground?
Hi
I was wondering... when the games are in Melbourne, do the players drive straight to the ground, or would they go to the Club and all come in a team bus? I was just wondering because I was thinking about traffic jams, accidents, and so forth... things that might slow down you and I if we were going there.
Anybody know?
Cheers
Mark

Only supporters get to the ground late due to train cancellations and traffic jams.
The players get to the ground so early, they could run home and back again before the game starts.
If they get caught in a traffic jam they simply get to the ground later than they should, but never late enough to miss the game.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Yep, they drive.
Have seen some of them in their cars quite a few times in the underground car park on the way home over the years or have crossed paths with them while walking to our cars. Not as often as it used to be as they seem to have longer and longer in recovery these days. The also get to the social club a lot later than they did even two years ago. But, if thats what it takes to be the best....

Our players were walking on the ground with a footy in hand before the gates had even opened.

From memory;
Players are required at a Team Meeting at 12.15 when the game starts at 2.10. Also, Nick R is reported to sometimes be having a kick on the ground before those meetings.
So YES, they would drive to the ground and depending on their living arrangements, probably "Car Pool" as well !!

Yes have heard him say this himself in interviews, that he does a lot of running out on the ground more than 2 hours before the game. Part of his routine apparently. Seems to be workingGrumpyOne wrote:Anyone who gets to the ground early will see Rooey sprinting from one side of the ground to the other about a dozen times.... and that is before the warm-upEastern wrote:Also, Nick R is reported to sometimes be having a kick on the ground before those meetings.
