saints.com.au - just bland and uninteresting
Anyone seen our official website lately?
Are there any articles on it that are either newsworthy or well-written?
The main story at the moment is that the Saints are looking forward to playing Freo next week. That exact line is both the headline and the opening sentence.
I read the rest of the 'story' and narrowly avoided slipping into a boredom induced coma.

Any chance that we can actually have an article with something resembling information? Maybe a player or coach...something!

unfortunately good journalism costs money, and i can't see the club spending that cash on it.

I hardly go on it either but this thread prompted me to look and I do agree that the Freo story was not really anything new.saintbrat wrote:http://www.saints.com.au/season2009/new ... fault.aspx

However I did take the time to complete the survey SB
I have heard that it is going through a transitional stage with staff so it may take time for the site to get back on track.

I just read the article. They left out lots of telling points they could have made, egB W and R all over wrote:Anyone seen our official website lately?

"fans who want to see the game live will need to come to the ground" or
"only the team that scores the most points has any chance of making it through to the NAB cup final" or
"because the game is being played on a Saturday night, peak hour traffic is not expected to be a problem outside the ground".
Good grief!

The club doesn't employ any journo's and the club has very little say on what goes onto the saints website or what it looks like, it run and owned by Telstra.
The saints do have more control over saintscentral thou.

Unfortunately for us we cannot do what Essendon has done due to the rights to run our official website having been sold to Telstra several years ago. Essendon started their website before this happened (10+ years ago) and therefore were exempt from this sale, and they were the only club to do so before the rights were sold. In other words the boat sailed a long time ago and Essendon was the only club on it.

Re: saints.com.au - just bland and uninteresting
Telstra has little say in content beyond insisting it stays family friendly. They only care about banner space and badging and the odd link to a phone offer. I think you'll find the club's lack of interest in the site says more about financial administrative priorities than anything else. We pay for an extra trainer rather than web whiz with a penchant for social media.aussierules0k wrote:prezactly.ausfatcat wrote:...the club has very little say on what goes onto the saints website or what it looks like, it run and owned by Telstra.
Here's how it should be done.

Agree it's a terribly pointless site though.
Even the GC site craps all over ours.
www.goldcoastfc.com.au.
And they're yet to play a VFL game.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

And if I'm not mistaken, isn't the girl who wrote that article - Felicity George - the same girl who hawked herself around in London before managing to land a job with Arsenal as a press assistant? And now she's come back to Melbourne?
I don't know the whole story, B W and R all over - but I reckon you just might. Interested to hear it...
