It means we offer players what we believe they are worth, and if they dont agree they can leave.meher baba wrote: As for the coach's comment
if someone could explain to me precisely what that means, I'll have some idea of whether I can support it or not.''What we do is create an environment of coaching and a support network for our players and we pay them accordingly. It's really important to get the relativities right. We'd like to think Lenny [Hayes] and 'Rooey' [Riewoldt] are paid right up the top and then everyone falls in right behind them.
''At times, everyone sees the relativities differently. At the end of the day, there are a lot of elements that go into making a strong club and players wanting to stay and if someone's perception sits outside that a little bit, well they leave.''
C'mon... imagine the shyte storm if he said that outright.... what he said above equates to exactly that, without providing an easy quote for a cheap headline, or for anyone to feel the need to return fire.If it means that Luke left for more $$$, then why didn't Lyon simply say that?

Reading between the lines, I think that was a nice way of saying that Ball left for more money.
In other words:
We give players every opportunity to excell.
Club offer Ball a contract "relative" to his value to the team.
Ball's "relativities" are higher than the club's.
Ball is dropped and probably cracks it.
Conners sounds out opposition clubs to see what their "relativites" towards Ball might be.
Pies indicate that Ball might fit into their theory of "relativities".
Ball continues to play, and is selected in the Grand Final (despit Ross hating him).
Upon confirmation, Ball leaves for the Pies.
Ball pisses on his mates who lowered their "relativites" to keep the group together.
Ball could find himself crying again after this year's Grand Final - for all the wrong reasons.

Well according to his comments, it is HIS club, so he can blame whomever he wishes. The club is bigger than any individual player, so I'll stand by my comments and my support for the club in this matter.barks4eva wrote:stinger wrote: what a load of bollocks...and what a disservice you do to a former captain and joint best and fairest winner for my club.....

Oh well, if you really don't care, why comment on my post? Are you defending Luke, or simply grasping at an opportunity to take a cheap shot at me. Read your signature old chum, and take your own advise, rather than inflaming this thread. Quite simple really. Now please stop stalking my comments.

My interpretation of events. In other words, my opinion. This is my view of what might have happened. Good luck to Luke if he sought a better deal. I'mnot begrudging him that. You know NOTHING about what happened in house and your comments regarding Luke Ball being disrespected by Lyon and St kilda is the height of all ignorance!
The only player in the AFL to have two interchange breaches costing us goals both times indicates Ball had a difficult time following instructions!
You're not the coach, so you know absolutely nothing and the fact that Riewoldt said what he did publicly shows how much feeling there is about what Luke Ball did and IMHO, he probably acted like a prima donna private schoolboy and brought it all upon himself!
AND who was the moron who put him on $600,000, more than Lenny Hayes at the time, to start with? FAIR DINKUM
If Ball was only getting $450,000 or $500,000 as he should have been, the drop in salary to an amount of $350,000 reflecting his true worth might not have been so big and might not have resulted in him refusing to sign a contract to begin with!
The fact is Ball was very well looked after on $600,000 a year when his true worth was much less and other players were getting paid less because of Ball's huge salary!
Ball was not worthy of commanding such big dollars to begin with!
Are the DNA results in yet?
DO THE MATHS AND THE SQUARES ARE ALL ROOTED.
No, never met before but if this place is anything to go by, what might start as friendly ribbing would, in the space of about five minutes, turn into the two of us smashing pint glasses over each others heads.Milan Faletic wrote:Hey OLB and Joffaboy
