Should Kosi play center Half Back
is it to late to develop kosi for a key defender. or should we keep him at full forward where his kicking for goal can let him down.
trevor barker
His kicking for goal improved heaps this year.
I think it's more just a matter of his self-belief, which I beleive is low.
When he plays a good game his confidence lifts and he can usually string a few good games together, but then it just takes a few things in one game to go against him and he's back to A1.
The best example of this is the belief and confidence he had in himself when he was named captain for a few games a couple of years ago, he pretty much dominated all those games
EDIT: In answer to your question, No, I don't beleive he should. I think if he can gain great self belief he can dominate his current position. He has all the tools to do it-
Great contested mark
Decent set shot
Good reader of the play
I also think our backline is very settled as it is.

Yeah. 12th spot on the Coleman list, what a crap effort. Send him back to CHB, let's face it Sam Fisher is doing a crap job there anyway.
Give me some of what this guy is smoking...

Lost a bit of pace.
Early days when he was a bit more agile it was good for him. Won the rising star in that position in 2001, but he was young and pre injury.
Since then he beat Jonathan Brown in 2004 at CHB but has suffered knee, ankle, shoulder, back and quad injuries etc and has thus lost the ability to move quite as freely or quickly.
Reads the play well in attack, has strengh and kicks fairly well. He's a forward these days almost exclusively. Although could ruck for 5-10 minute bursts if need be.

He obviously has the burst of pace needed for a fwd option - so why could he NOT play CHB on a FWD?
He could if we requested it of him - and it would be an option in a flexible side that we should explore in case we do come up against a huge and dominant CHF in 2010 eg: Jonathon Brown J. Why not give him training for the position.
It is a position supposedly great for players with less "vision" as you do not have to turn back into play.
Does he do that well at that tricky thing? (Roo is exceptional) I am not sure. But for a top team - I am sorry but I want more from our FF in future years. Top 6 at least.
I will leave all of this up to the match cttee - but more than anything we need flexibility this year IMHO. The irishman might be a good CHB in future - but a CHB should be able to kick to position 60m or so like BJ. Kossie can do this.

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Re: Should Kosi play center Half Back
No..as long as all the opposition clubs agree to play a big slow forward for him to match up on.JABBER wrote:is it to late to develop kosi for a key defender. .
Otherwise it is yes as he grew up.
Leave him mainly as a forward.
Yes he can drift back occassionally to take a mark or fill a hole, but do not confuse both of those tasks as playing asa defender.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

There is nothing wrong with flexibility and forward planning!
I do not see why the Koz cannot know how to play at CHF CHB FB as well as FF and ruck.
Why not? Who knows what will happen?
Plenty of sides played guys in weird spots in GFs - eg: Matthews at FF!!! against Daniher (FB) and kicked 6 i think.
As for Goddard - anywhere

Maybe at Gold Coast? Is there a sneaky implication in there ? Or am I reading you wrong?plugger66 wrote:Not for the Saints.
