You say that 'sometimes' it pays to say nothing and acknowledge that those in charge know more about footy than we do.

What does 'sometimes' equate to? How often should we do that. 18 months after it's obviously going to be OK?

Did you sit back watching the team under Tim Watson thinking 'well he played a lot of top level footy?'. If we appoint Warrick Capper next year will you look up his goal kicking stats and feel reassured?

Are you saying you weren't concerned about the way the team played in 2007 and into 2008? I think the fact that the team now plays a radically different style (attack ball carrier rather than zone off) suggests that people were right to be worried.

And if you are worried about your club, and there is a club forum, and you were a memebr of the forum, wouldn't you write that?

It's the people who never have an opinion who offer nothing to a forum. And this is another post that says nothing:

I have often said that to be a fan the 15 other AFL clubs is to be a supporter/barracker/fan/tragic but to be a St Kilda fan is a way of life.

St Kilda fans need to be (and are) more passionate and made of sturdier stuff than any other fans in any sport ive come across....why? Because we have had the least success and traveled the hardest, longest and most barren road.

I suppoet the current coach, captain and administration. I support the St Kilda Football Club and ill defend it/them to anyone who wants to knock us. End of story

I personally belive that if a player walks out especially a long serving player, for a long time enemy, seemingly or with the assumption that the club did him wrong I have the right to be upset about that.

I can disagree with certain things the club does i.e selection, trades, drafting ect. This doesnt make me any less of a fan imho

I have always thaught Eddie was kinda like the AFL version of WWE owner Vince McMahon....obsessed with "his way", dismissing everyone that has a differant opinion, pushing his version of "the only right version", insular and pig headed, stubbornly sticking to projects that will fail and surrounded by yes men and sickophants.

I have said more than my fair share about the Luke Ball issue but I feel he made a bad decision and left a club on the brink of ultimate success not only for selfish reasons but he now is destined for ultimate mediocrity. Playing for Collingwood is his crime its also his punishment

After Round three of 2007, two days after we got pumped by over 10 goals to Port, I said to Ross Lyon at the TBO, I know you'll be a great coach for us!

I knew the right things were being put in place and the mess that he inherited was finally being addressed!

He also had a poorly conditioned playing list, not quick on the uptake regarding game plans and tactics, because for 5 1/2 years they'd virtually coached themselves!

This site was in overload because all the clueless Thomas flogs and mindless sheep were still seething because Grant had been exited out

As White Winmar wrote previously, Thomas inherited a list from heaven and managed to send it half way to hell in 5 1/2 years!

At the end of 2007 when we'd finished 9th, Robert Harvey said Ross Lyon is the best coach he's ever had!

This is way too laterally challenging for most on here it would seem, but it was obvious from day one that Ross Lyon was a fantastic appointment and I never doubted it once, not ONCE!

I knew things were on the right track ALL the time, but ALL the dumb****Thomas flogs, the mindless sheep who wouldn't get a drum with a brass band up them, banged on yada, yada about how we needed Grant back, Lyon is this, Lyon is that...........

FAIR DINKUM, what a bunch of cretins!

I could not continue to support Thomas and his dictatorship because I knew he was pissing it all up against the wall!

Thankfully now, we have a genuine, Real McCoy coach, the polarities between the two could not be more extreme!

Robert Harvey did in fact say that - but I think it was after the 2008 season. Definately came out and said that exactly as quoted - also repeated it at the B&F of 2008 as well I recall.

It was definitely after the 2007 season before 2008!

Yes he repeated it at the 2008 B&F!

RF, are you going to apologise for calling me a LIAR?

What he said was that Lyon is the best prepared coach he has had. Not the best coach he has had.

You make it up as you go along, YOU'RE A LIAR!

Robert Harvey said categorically that Lyon is the best coach he's ever had, PERIOD and that was after one season where we'd finished 9th, mind you that result was directly attributable to the mess he inherited from the buffoon who's amateur hour lasted for five and a half years!

I remember Harvey making that comment back in mid 2006. I thought then it was a big call, hence why I remember it. It was clearly that he called Lyon the best coach he had played under.

No you're mistaken on the dates, Thomas was exited out on 12/9/06 so it most definitely was not mid 2006!

Harvey said it in an interview > around SEP/OCT 2007!

As to whether you heard it mid 2007, that I cannot answer!

Anyway RF is a liar, this much we have established!

Definately said Lyon was the best coach he had played under - ever. It was a stunning statement coming at a time when there was some angst about our "style".

Repeated the comment at the Best & Fairest night of 2008 - we all heard it. Except you obviously RF!!!!

Who has an opinion they think isn't correct?
Key word here..THINK....

Of course we think we are correct, but every week hundreds of people go to games (and post here ) who genuinely believe that the lil bit of football knowledge theyve gleaned from watching AFL games or coaching their kids U 9's team puts them on equal footing with a senior AFL coach

History will show Tim Watson not to have been a great coach, but he was eminently more qualified to do the job than anyone on this Forum. If he wasted to play BBBBH in defence, no-one here or any fans in the crowd had the credentials to actually tell him he was wrong.

Didnt stop the "God anyone who think Barry Hall is a defender has no idea about football" cries...and thats VERY different to "I dont think Barry Hall should be played in defence"

RF is deliberately trolling the site and on this occasion has been shown to be a LIAR, even had the temerity to suggest I was one for stating what Robert Harvey actually said!

Didn't Malcolm Blight play Hall in defence in 2001?
