Maybe when we kick Collingwood's ass in another final, Mick might repect him again.
Frankly Mick, Idon't give a damn what you think, your just another Collingwood whore.

WEll summed up. Exactly what happened.

Having said that I don't blame Maguire for asking the question.

All pretty harmless really. Good for footy and has got all of us now looking fwd to what would have been a run of the mill glorified practice match.

Malthouse has gone a bit over the top in his defence of Ball - but he is prone to stupid comments in the press. Great coach, but no-one really wants to hear his views on anything but purely footy matters. I mean, who cares who Malthouse respects. He speaks a lot of dribble.

I actually wonder if he is the one squirming, the press has been quick to run with how he has lost respect for last years AA captain....I actually think it's rather ironic given he was the one preaching about hasty reactions 8-)

this has got to be one of the worse articles i have ever read....he doesnt state anything about roo being wrong about luke walking out on the club....ofcourse he needs to stick up for luke as he is playing for them...he is only stating that he couldnt believe that roo would say that about luke...but he doesnt go into detail cause even he knows thats what happened when luke had a contract and refused it....

If Mick is so big on respect and integrity, I hope he also tells exactly when his club and Ball began discussions.

Poor Mick. He and Ed are under the pump to deliver and prove that their reign wasn't a waste.

Oh Micky you're so fine, you're fine you blow my mind. Hey Micky!

He's rattled. When did they last beat us? 2nd semi 1966?

Luke Ball knew he wasn't wanted for $500k at St Kilda.

Sheahan has been shown to be liar. Quelle Surprise!

Luke Ball decided that, whilst he could drop from $600k to $500k, he would not drop to $333k, and who could blame him, end of story.

The only odd thing that happened after that is that no club, other than Collingwood, thought he was worth $500k either.

I don't wish him ill and always loved him playing for us. The great tragedy for him, alas like so many who have donned the Red, White and Black, is that injury robbed him of his best years, and his best was the equal of the other two prized recruits from his initial draft year.

I like Nick getting involved. The club has needed a spruiker for about many years and whilst a captain may not always be the ideal choice, this one is. There is no chance that it will affect the way he plays, such is his level of focus. The sooner the other clubs, especially Collingwood, realise that we will no longer roll over and be lap dogs, the better.

See I differ here sorry Stinger.

Give me a human reaction over a robot anyday....especially if the motive is passion for the jumper.

you don't give a sucker an even break..or ammunition they can use against you...it was okay talking about the contract...that's not the issue....don't make comments about ball walking out on the club...especially when he was really shoved out the door.... and don't make threats to get someone to clean him up ffs.....

lets face it....eddie's a creep but he was too smart for roo....
So Ball was "really shoved out the door"? You 1000% sure on that? Categorically? You'd back your source or your own interpretation of things agasint the captain of our club? You sound so certain thats all

Oh and the line about Tommy Walsh was just a little bit of humour..noone, not even Eddie took it seriously

Roo's not the same media-shy person he was 3-4 years ago. Underestimate him at your peril :-)

EXACTLY, obvious sign that the players are pissed off with him and saw his prima donna, hissy fit, melodramatics first hand!

Players drawing dollar signs all over his pictures!

They were very STRONG words from Riewoldt, that he said it reveals more about how deep the feeling is about what really happened and this spoken by someone in a position to KNOW FIRST HAND!

Stinger's just miffed with Riewoldt for exposing the reality that doesn't happen to align itself with his half baked opinions/misperceptions and limited understandings of what really happened, INHOUSE!

There comes a time when you need to say it out LOUD so even the goofballs can glean the garb!

I really hope we dont turn Luke Ball into what the Carlscum fans turned Aaron Hamill into...

Far out I am getting sick of Luke Ball in a hurry.

Lots of hoo ha about a bloke that STILL cant kick 50 meters.

Ammunition?

I would think that an oppostion coach having a crack at your captain could be good ammunition...

And another club insinuating that your coach and captain are lying

Compared to a debate over whether someone jumped or was pushed, and when Balls been at the Filth for 5 minutes.

And not to mention all the guys who've taken pay cuts over the last few years in an attempt to keep the side togehter and win a flag. Then to have someone who is under performing to be asked to take a pay cut, then have that someone get up and leave...

As far as ammunition goes I think we're loaded...

We don't need it, but it won't hurt.

I don't think it would be officially used to motivate by the coaches, but I'm pretty sure it will get a mention amongst the players.

So, the fella (i.e. our freakin' skipper) who had a light dig at a departing brother (and one who had copped a huge salary on the back of others taking pay cuts), cops some shyte from some media and a few of his own.

Well, stiff stools. The same bloke who had the gentle, fact based dig, is the reigning AA Skipper, our skipper and by far the most important player in the Goddamn competition. The number of times I heard Leigh Matthews marvel at Roo's talents last year was extraordinary - he is extraordinary.

F%@? Eddie, Malted Milkhouse, Gary Pertarse, whichever Scott's there now, Guy McKenna's legacy, the shiela that sold the drugs out of the front office, David Williamson, the idiot on with Stephen J. Peake about 15 minutes ago, the whole freakin lot of 'em..................

We're right, they're wrong, and the one player in the entire competition with the cred to talk is our skipper (or his 2 I.C.). So, away ya go Ballie - good early years, but ya drank the Thomas bathwater (after he'd stuffed ya, I must admit).

Last year we had the best leadership duo in the AFL. And, Rooey and the 'Dog will put an even bigger gap to second in '10.

Roo with a proper preseason and 3 extra kgs? Be very, very scared Eddie.

Does Malthouse's attack on Riewoldt mean that Collingwood no longer want Riewoldt - good news if true for St Kilda.

Or does it mean that Malthouse is upset that Riewoldt told Eddie to stick Collingwood's offer up his ......... and he doesn't want to play Ball or with Ball.

Luke Ball's last contract at St Kilda was in the top 16 highest paying contracts in the AFL.

Fair f****** dinkum.

Nick Riewoldt, All Australian Captain, dares to say matter of factly what happened. And the flogs jump.

Fair dinkum.

They can all go and get f***ed as far as I'm concerned and I hope we flog each and every team without an ounce of mercy this season. Then see what these semi-literate over-paid sheep are bleating.

My reaction to all of this is honestly - GO AND GET f***ed. Turn on us at your peril.

So,The list of those wanting to defend and/or speak on behalf of Luke Ball is continuing to grow. There are many conflicting reports on what really happened, and why Ball decided to leave St Kilda, but nothing from Luke Ball, especially to those St Kilda fans who lined his pockets with approx $2.5Mill over the past 7 years.

Here is what I think happened;

Luke Ball was offered a contract by St Kilda back in June 2009. Nowhere near his $600,000pa previous contract, but a $340,000pa incentive based contract. He quickly calculated that this would be even further reduced if he was playing in the VFL.

Ball & his management saw this as an insult to his ability and decided to offer his services to a number of clubs, with Collingwood and Essendon showing the most interest. This occured in July (around the same time Ball was dropped to the VFL). To cover this, Balls manager concocted a story that there was a major conflict between Ball and Saints coach, Ross Lyon. This was swallowed by both Collingwood & Essendon.

This gave Connors the bait to play Collingwood & Essendon against each other. Essendon played along for 2-3 weeks but were unwilling to match what Collingwood were offering. Connors and Ball then entered an "In Principle" agreement with Collingwood. This occured just before Ball was recalled to the senior side at St Kilda in early August.

Ball was then required to play a "charade" with St Kilda for the remainder of the season, knowing full well that he was off to Collingwood at seasons end.

St Kilda's Grand Final appearance (and the production of Balls crocodile tears) and it's stance during trade week really made things difficult for Ball, Connors & Collingwood to the point where certain "promises" were made to Melbourne, and possibly one or two other clubs so that they could acheive their objective. There was also the "creative accounting" in the demands Ball set out prior to the Draft

In the end, Ball made it to Collingwood through the bullying tactics employed by Connors & Collingwood. The media was manipulated by Collingwood and St Kilda was made to look like the "Bad Guys". This was done this way so that the REAL TRUTH could be kept from St Kilda, the AFL and others.

I am convinced that Luke Ball had an agreement with Collingwood prior to being recalled to St Kilda senior side in August

If anyone has the PROOF to shoot this theory down I would love to see your evidence !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
