MICK TAKES STICK TO NICK (Eliza Sewell)
Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse indicated he had lost respect for Nick Riewoldt after the St Kilda captain accused former teamate Luke Ball of deserting the Saints.
Ball, a former captain and 142 game player with the Saints left Moorabbin is search of more on field opportunities and joined Collingwood through the pre-season draft.
Riewoldt this week hit out at Ball maintaining he was offered a contr4act by St Kilda that he knocked back because he "didn't want to stay".
"With Ball, it was disappointing that he left. He was offered a contract and knocked it back and wanted to leave, " Riewoldt said on Triple M.
"Let's make that very clear, Luke Ball had a contract and didn't want to stay."
Malthouse defended Ball this morning and was confused by Riewoldt's remarks.
'I just don't know why you would (turn your back on Ball), " Malthouse told SEN radio.
"I had a massive amount of respecdt for Nick Riewoldt and I guess listening to that, it makes you wonder where it's coming from.
"Luke doesn't want to get tied up in this.
"He has only got great memories of St Kilda.
"He doesn't want to make an issue of it and that's the way it should be."
Malthouse said Ball agonised over his decision to leave the Saints, but in the end realised he was not wanted at the club.
"He just didn't jump ship," Malthouse said.
"Players always know when they're wanted, make no mistake.
"And if they're not wanted it means really they should move on."
Ball does not have long to wait to face his old teammates, with the Pikes taking on the Saints at Etihad Stadium in the first round of the NAB Cup in a fortnight.
Ball was twice dropped to the reserves by Saints coach Ross Lyon last season, and spent more than half of last year's lost Grand Final cooling his heels on the bench.
Malthouse has promised to play Ball in his favoured midfield role.

Maybe schlick Mick should have a chat to his pres before he puts his moushstaka into other peoples business.
Heady Mag asked roo a question and then made a statement that St kilda took the contract off the table, which roo responded in kind.
Good old Schlicky Milkshake... biggest hypocrite to walk this earth.

Doesn't apply.satchmo wrote:*cough*... Nick Davis ...*cough* ....traitor....Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse indicated he had lost respect for Nick Riewoldt after the St Kilda captain accused former teamate Luke Ball of deserting the Saints.
Don't you know Collingwood can never do anything wrong?
ANd differnet rules apply to players arriving/departing Collingwood.
I like that he couldn't keep silent, I love that on the odd occasion he lets his guard down his love of the club shines through.stinger wrote:SainterK wrote:See I differ here sorry Stinger.stinger wrote:..well....what did you expect....not that i give a rat's what malthouse says...about anything.....

Obviously us, because we only offered Ball a million dollar contract and therefore didn't value him.stinger wrote:markp wrote:I just hope Nick can earn back Mick's respect someday... All our intended Sandy players get offered million dollar contracts.
We didn't take a trade for him during trade week because we didn't think he was worth anything at all, and we certainly had no intention of attempting to convince him to stay... we even flew people over to NY to inform him he was not wanted.
