Question: Should Saintsational have advertising sponsors?
Just curious with all the hundreds of people that post on the site, is it appropriate that we sell links to business sites. Maybe some posters would like to advertise their business on the site. The money could go to sponsoring players maybe? Just wanted to know what people thought.

Just asking, how do you think we will have to curb our ways?gazrat wrote:what , and then have to curb our way/s for the 'sponsors' ?
thats a big no from me
I am able to say what I want on the Herald Sun website and they have sponsors. I don't think there is any censorship on talkback radio having worked for two major stations. I don't think the types of sponsors will be major organisations.
Interested to hear your reasons and I am not being critical of you, just interested in your point of view.

Because you start with a few harmless ads and before you know, we'll have a McDonald's restaurant opening up on the general form.Milan Faletic wrote:Just curious to hear why you think no ads. Not arguing with you, just want to hear your opinion.matrix wrote:no ads
On a serious note, and I could be wrong:
1- the forum would have to operate under a business entity, be gst compliant and lodge tax returns because it receives income.
2- being an AFL forum, any revenue raising by way of commercial practices would more than likely attract the AFL heavies re intellectual property etc.
I'm sure there are more worms in this can.

anything that murkies the water of 'freedom of expression' , gets a no from me
show me , no interference (dogma wise in the fine print) ....... like the buddhists .... and i'd vote yes
we could be non profit , reinvesting the coinage to sponsoring kids and players or have a yearly all expenses paid sainsational beer , cheers and tears day at the Corner

re ads:
well i actually just presumed that the ads would be between posts when you scroll down reading a thread...and that shites me off in other forums, and i dont like the look of it.
i just like how (whoever donated) has managed to keep the site up for two years (financially, not including the admin programming pc side of it all), we and us alone managed to do that.
i think the site looks neat and organised without the ads floating around, or corporate logos in the corners or flashing banners etc etc.
i like the idea that us as supporters felt the need to donate to keep this place going because all diffs aside, all arguments aside, we're all here to discuss st kilda.
just like how we manage to sponsor players each year too.
im proud to say i can donate a little bit to help the site stay and look the way it does and sponsor a player for st kilda fc
no ads imo
im up for some more more emoticons tho
