You're not going to burst my bubble....

Post: # 871485Post SainterK »

I have very high expectations for this year, and nothing you can say will deter me.

I have every confidence in our coach, captain and team. They have the ability, desire, packaged together with an air of 'unfinished business' to keep it really interesting.

Let the other teams just try to stand between St Kilda and it's premiership.

Anyone with me?

Almost agree. We have the list to go all the way if someone (Armo, Steven, Geary, Mini) can step up to replace Ball.

Surely one of them can do this so, if Lenny and Rooey can stay fit enough and we kick straight on GF day this time, then I reckon we're specials.

Seems I can't keep away :)

Bit to catch up on today, seems to be a bit more traffic around here as the season fast approaches.

Did I miss much?

Yes we both failed to become premiers.

I would suggest however that 2nd is not the same position as 16th.

I just hope Peake can step up if Lovett is gone; otherwise, my hubris will certainly dampen going into this year's season.

No need for hubris or hype...

Just a bit of faith in what e have. We don't need a Peake or Lovett, just like we didn't need Cousins and the world didn't end when 35 retired.

What we need is for everyone on the list to strive for a 10% improvement and we'll be fine.

BTW, this forum looks so much nicer thru my new BenQ 22" lcd monitor. :D

My thoughts exactly...I can't remember either of them doing much last year, only slightly more than Luke Ball! If I recall, we didn't do too badly last year...a 10% improvement would be 6 goals from Milne and Schnieder.

I'm looking forward to some of the new guys debuting and/or stepping up. It mind-boggling that some people seem to have written the season off already FFS...how fragile some of us are.

I haven't read that anywhere. Ppl have been critical of some of our trades/recruiting, but I haven't read anywhere anyone saying that this will be the end for the sainters re 2010, or even close to that.

Actually not even sure the two issues are even related. I am critical of our trading/drafting (2009 only) but am very confident re 2010. REckon we've got some great young players ready to step up, armo, jack, big macca, just for starters. No major retirements. No key players in obvious decline. Losing Ball may well be a win/win for both parties.

If you can't be optimistic re 2010 you're a hard nut to please I reckon.

I reckon these changes would have made a big difference in the GF:

Armitage->McQualter, McEvoy->King, Gwilt-> Dempster.

I think if we can get Armitage, Geary and McEvoy in, they alone will make a massive difference; as we had some deadwood in the GF.
