Just spotted this article that says Lovett is expected to be charged. Doesn't sound good....
Depends what the DPP says who wouldn't even have had the interview info yet.
what does "charged on summons" mean?
there are a number of ways to bring a defendant before a court

...on a warrant or simply in custody and brought before the court..., bailed to appear ....or summonsed to appear....on a summons matter , the defendant is not formally charged until they appear before the court....

the latest is all here...

You may have to train with the guy but forming that type of friendship is not smart.

I hope it wasn't Raph expecting Lovett to replace his older brother.

SENsaintsational wrote:And remember one further thing regarding the AFL and Cousins and the precedent.

Cousins has never tested positive, never been charged with a serious crime, never heard a third party (to my knowledge).

Suspended 12months.

Lovett could be potentially charged with two of the above three acts shortly.

No way the AFL will let St Kilda play him IMO if he's charged, regardless of what St Kilda want to do. He's got to be AFL registered first.
I agree with a lot of this.

If charged I can't see him playing until it is resolved.

That said just being found not guilty won't necessarily be enough to have him playing AFL footy again.

To be convicted by the courts, and by extension be deprived of your freedon, you have to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, the standard of proof to deregister an AFL player is not that high.

No matter how this plays out there are no winners in this, let's just hope justice is done, everything else will sort it's self out following this.

SENsaintsational wrote:My view expressed above is that the AFL will have a big say in the way St Kilda handles this situation.

The precedent was set with Ben Cousins. He had broken no rules but was arrested and charged. Sacked straight away by West Coast and then suspended for 12mths by the AFL (deregistered most likely).

And then the charges were dropped.

Make no mistake, if Lovett is charged, he will be suspended pending his court case at the behest of the AFL. Whether he is found guilty in the long run will be largely irrelevant, because the AFL will not allow a charged alleged sex offender to wear the AFL logo.

My view only. Take it or leave it. 8-)
well, that's slightly different in what you previously stated...

Yes, I know it's only your opinion, but you seem to have changed it slightly...

In any case, I believe the Club will have the balls to make the right call

I slightly changed the wording, but the crux of what I was saying is still the same.

I believe (IMO) that the AFL will 'guide' St Kilda to the right decision....for the AFL.

If St Kilda want to play him and the AFL doesn't, he won't be playing.

But agree with your last comment....St Kilda will make the right call and won't need the AFL to overrule.

I think you are right.

The AFL would prefer not to be seen as the ones making the decision as such will do everything in their power to change our minds if we don't initially agree with them.

I agree we will make the right call and also agree that the AFL will ensure that they get what they want.

Charlie is still a chance to get a contract with Carlton. They need a forward and they will be looking for a new booze mentor.

He also comes with his own handcuffs....

It may have been a "joke" to you...but do you really believe joking regarding domestic voilence is appropriate?

Nothing about this case, the Charlie Sheen case (s) or any other domestic voilence case is funny.

Oh here we go, didn't think it would take long.

Dude - when you post something on a PUBLIC forum, it is everyone's business. If you wanted it to be private, go PM

I stand by my comments, joking about this or any other violence is really not cool.

So you would be ok, if it was your daughter on the receiving end of said violence and a couple of dipshits on a forum were joking about it?

Seriously?

Show me where there is a joke at the expense of any woman.

We are joking about Charlie's situation and creating a footy feel for it.

If I said something that denegrated the women concerned, then let me have it with both barrels.

It's called TAKING THE P1SS.

Happy new year.

If you seriously do not get it, then what is the point in trying to exlpain it to you? :? Perhaps Lovett didn't realise what he was doing was wrong either? Doesn't make it right :?

Taking the piss is one thing and I am all for having a laugh and a joke, but joking about such serious matters needs alittle more care and concern.

Happy New Year to you as well

Just send a photocopy to one of the mods and they can certify it on the forum.

And you will get an unreserved apology from me, and possibly from a couple of others on the forum who called you a Janitor, which I have not done.

Given my family history, I deplore domestic viloence against women, men and kids.

You really need a sense of humour with regards to my comment to you. Noticehow I used the "misspelled" version of fcuk again? And the emoticon?

Wondering though if the 'serious matter' is only too serious to take the p1ss if it involves women?

What about domestic violence involving a bloke getting beaten up?

I think it is you who doesn't get 'it'. I was taking the p1ss out of Charlie Sheen ( who I am pretty sure won't get to read this, nor will his wife) who is in a bit of trouble with the law. A laughing stock as it were.

In no way did anyone try to make light of his alleged crime, his relationship with his wife, his wife's terror, his wife's alleged drug use....simply aligning Charlie with the AFL and making light of his current public image.

You, on the other hand, have tried to highlight a non-existent issue you think is contained in the comments. Apparently we are condoning and making light of domestic violence. Spare me.

You don't need to explain anything to me for it is clear that you should try to explain it to yourself first up!!

But this is a public forum and I appreciate your input.
