Congrats Gilbo
"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

NO surprise at all.
My brother went to the game on the Gold Coast in 2008 and happened to be on the same flight up as the team. He spent the flight sitting next to the team psychologist. The bloke was friendly and happy to chat and said that Gilbo had been earmarked very early on as very high potential and a definite future leader of the club.

Congratulations, that's fantastic reward for effort.
I had a recent thread on who we all thought would be the likely additions, and I don't recall anyone saying Gilbert. It's a surprise, but on reflection, a worthy candidate for sure.
I think it's great, I certainly see him as a member of the next "core group" and this experience will be invaluable.
Also a very strong message, hands off GC

Looks like we've definitely focused on picking leaders lately. Along with Gilbert, I hear Lynch and McEvoy are quality leaders as well.
Not to mention Roo, Lenny (who would be captain anywhere else except maybe Sydney) and Goddard...fair decent leadership there.
I also imagine Baker would be a very strong leader. And all 4 of them, lead with actions...not words.
