After the GF I didn't really feel sad, just empty. I went down to the rooms and ended up next to 7's mum and dad.
After a while he came out and hugged his mum and said "it's just not fair".
That's when I cried.
It probably was 8, now it has to be 7.
Talking of which, I showed 8 around the wards at RCH once (I worked there) and he cried then. I respected him even more for that.
i hadnt heard that story
Thank You
at the pregame drinkies at The Corner (was it the dogs game??, i reckon it was)
i was there early and a youngish lad sat down at the table asking if i minded that he sat.
we got chatting and he asked where i was from (gave him the whole, drove over from SA speech yadda yadda yadda)
he said he was on our list during the Watson era and either broke his leg or injured his leg somhow. said he ended up getting delisted.
yet none of us could for the life of us figure out who he was later on in the evening
anyhoo
one thing he did say was that he really hopes we win it, and said its blokes like lenny hayes who are pure class and have the greatest work ethic (as well as being a top bloke) who deserve it more than anyone
