The poor kid already seems worried about his surname, maybe we could come up with a nickname for him so he feels he has his own identity....

Yesterday, he had heard nothing from his famous namesake but had just received a congratulatory call from coach Ross Lyon. ''I spoke to him about the name thing,'' he said. ''I told him I just want to do my own thing, be known for me. He told me to work hard and that if I wanted to succeed I could do it.''

St Kilda football manager Matthew Drain said the club had not taken the famous name into account when choosing him. ''He was the best available talent … we think he has a strong enough personality to deal with the name thing. They all have pressure on them, his is just a bit different.''

Nicko, or how about stinger?

I don't think that he is worried about his name. He is just making the point, and good on him for that.

Let's hope he takes Lyon's advice and works hard to create his own legend.

*Allegedly.

Now that Dawson is officially no longer a rookie he has earned Smoky status.
I move a motion that Zac now be known only as Smoky forthwith.

Wow only spoken to him twice!

Posters on this website have probably had a better relationship with Nicky....They got to see him every week.

Seems like he has his head switched on....And the fact that he is a distant relation cements the reasoning behind selecting him wasn't sentimental. (Erases any doubt as such)

Only spoken to him twice...in his life

Just a normal second-cousin relationship then

I've asked like 15 times but I still can't remember/work out what a second cousin is.

So is he Winmar's cousin's kid?

mick - 2nd cousins share the same great grandparent. Here is a chart to show how relationships are calculated: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... lation.htm

and btw I reckon we should just call him Tom, then he won't have name issues with anyone at the club :?

It's me, but I've been trying to keep that a secret.
