RETIRED St Kilda full-back Max Hudghton has joined Collingwood as an assistant coach.
Hudghton was a fan favourite at Moorabbin over 13 seasons, but missed out on playing in this year's Grand Final.
He announced his retirement in the post-game wash-up after 234 games as one of the AFL's elite defenders.
Hudghton will work at the Lexus Centre on a part-time basis, coming on board at the same time Nathan Buckley begins his assistant coaching career. Buckley will take over from senior coach Mick Malthouse in 2012.
“To be able to be involved in football to some extent, and particularly to work with Mick (Malthouse) and the Collingwood Football Club will be a big change, but it’s very exciting to be moving into a different environment, and move out of my comfort zone at St Kilda,â€

What is Max's address?
He needs to have a truck load of soap shipped to him urgently so he can wash off the filth.

Why would you say that? He is entitled to go after any opportunity that is made available to him. He no longer has any ties to St Kilda (except for a MAGNIFICENT playing career) as he is a retired player.#1GILL wrote:All the best Max.

Well done Max. Hope you enjoy your new role.

Clearly his decision is rooted in the base spite he feels against that dog Ross Lyon for not playing him injured. Wouldn't have happened under Thomas. Sad day for St K, the club he owed so much.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
I don't feel that way at all, and understand that he needs to give other things a go. But some of the things people said when they found out Harvs was going to Carlton were discraceful.saint75 wrote:Why would you say that? I've even heard some St Kilda 'supporters' boo him when he's on the boundry line.

As with Harvs at Carlton, no sane supporter would see a problem with Max learning the coaching trade on someone else's paypacket.
As with Harvs, expect to see Max back after a couple of years.
