Lovett

mabye Ball to stay.
Good?

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I would love for Luke Ball to remain a Saint.
He is a quality player, hopefully almost over his injuries.
More importantly, I see him as a quality leader and quality person. He can have a big influence on the team and other players through his people skills.
I see him as another Peter Bell, his influence is far greater than his on field presence.
I am fairly confident that Bally could do a Ryan OKeefe if he decides to stay.

I am still hurting from 71;
my gut churns thinking of 97;
2009 was agony,
2010a was a pleasure to watch only to be devastated by 2010 b.
It hurts barracking for the Saints

We're still awesome, JB. Would have taken some bad turns to undo that. Peake and Lovett bring something extra to the table. We'll see on Ball. Would have liked to have walked away with better picks than we did, but it's years like this that recruiters earn their money.
Anybody who puts us in the 'losers' column in the paper tomorrow should look at our list. We still rock at least 14 teams in this league.

I think X was told that he is about 5th in line for a midfield spot & offered the chance to re-establish himself elsewhere. Very noble by the club to do that & it reflects the respect that X has in the place.saint66au wrote:About even for me..and Negative if bally walks
X for Pick 60 has tipped the scales back from the Lovett win IMO..Brions did us over there bigtime
Peakes a depth player at present
On Peake, I think he will be a very good player in a strong side such as ours. When Freo were on fire in 2006 he was a prime reason. With Hasleby, Bell, etc in their prime & getting him the ball, he was a very good player. He will still be depth until he can prove himself to be a best 22 player.
Peake & Lovett are fantastic recruits. If Bally stays then we are even stronger.
Overall I give our trade week a 'B', based on filling a glaring need but not finding that 3rd forward (which will be filled internally or during the drafts).
I give Ross & Drainy an 'A+' for the way in which they have conducted themselves and the looked after the club's best interests.

If you actually look at it one way, we lost every trade.
Lovett for Pick 16 - Essendon win just.
Peake for Pick 46 - Freo win.
Pick 60 for X - We lose, considering we will only use 2 picks, we just upgraded 62 to 60. X, although had a lot of injuries, still showed potential to be more than a handy player.
Plus if we lose Ball to the PSD/Draft, thats an even bigger loss.
But in saying that, I'm happy we got Lovett, so i'm not overly dissapointed.

Peak - It's the equivelent to pick 60 in a normal draft... basically for free.
Ball - Losing him for nothing is better than sending him to the pies cheap...
I would say it was a B+ effort.
Would have been perfect if we could have snagged one of Everitt, McKinley, Jesse Smith etc.

Pick 16 is worth about pick 24 in a normal draft
Pick 46 is worth about 56...
X was about 5th in line for a spot & the club did the RIGHT thing by X in trading him for a pick unlikely to be used so he can have a chance at a career.
Ball not going to a top 4 competitor... nothing to us but more importantly, not a free leg up to them
A very good week trade wise but also an absolutely outstanding week that shows the integrity and street smarts of the guys that run our club.

I think we have done very well.
Lovett gives us that x factor we have lacked for years. Giving up pick 16 is a fair deal. You can't fill needs with quality players unless you are prepared to cough up for it.
Peake is good depth. Great pace and run and carry.
Losing X is a blow and pick 60 we probably won't use anyway but people have to understand that X has played a total of 26 games over the last 3 years including finals. He needs a change and has next to no value outside our club. We have done him a favour.
Not backing down to Collingwood is a massive win no matter what happens from here on in with Bally.
