So suddenly Rhys Stanley is on the map.
I seem to remember some on this forum asking "who?" only a couple of weeks ago... and suggesting he be used for trade bait.
Nuts.
100% spot on Inker , but now he won the sprint he should be first ruck according to some , all i can say is TF ross is the coach
And i thought this was a forum

This sums it up methinks.Bernard Shakey wrote:I've seen plenty of Sandy this year and there is no way Stanley is ahead of Big Mac.borderbarry wrote:I would play him in front of McEvoy at the moment.
Stanley will be a player and not just a ruckman, but is probably 18 months away.
Stanley is most definitely a longer term prospect. He looks to have some serious skills for his size though. Longer term.
Mac is the real deal I reckon. This pres eason will be good for him.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....
Wouldn't he be a great link-up man. Thumping kick out of the back 50 to the wing, you'd think with such height he would be able to out mark his opponent. Quick kick into the forward line... would be hard to match up on.bigcarl wrote:that would present a match up problem to our opponents. anyone else got a 200cm winger who wins grand final sprints?samoht wrote:Once he has the endurance he could play in a number of positions almost immediately - on the wing you don't need a solid body.

In 3-4 years St.Kilda will have one of the premier ruck combo's in the AFL with Big Mac and Stanley. I haven't seen McGrath so i can't comment but Stanley has all the ingredients to make a big impact.
He can obviously run fast but he also has a pretty good tank, good below his knees for a big guy, can jump, good kick, gets clearances, tackles and shows some grunt.
Probably just needs to learn the game and become a better mark but that will come as he builds strength and confidence.
Like whats been mentioned, he's still a good year or so off making a splash as he is still young but with a bit of muscle he should be a future gun for us.

Stanley ... impressive speed, can't comment on his football. Seems like a good kid from the interview, nice attitude.
I am interested in McGrath. Seems like two years since he was awarded a scholarship. 16 or 17 years old at the time, 208 cm and around 85 kilos. Given that kids usually keep growing at that age, any ideas of his current size and weight. More importantly, can he play. I live in Canberra so never see any Sandy games.
