193cm running defender who has been used as a backup ruckman and midfield tagger. Currently very similar to our own Sammy Gilbert.
Do we want him? Absolutely! Can't have enough tall, running defenders who have the versatility to also play on smaller forwards/midfielders.
Herald Sun:
Bulldog Andrejs Everitt continues to attract attention, with the Saints believed to be still keen if they can grab a decent pick for Luke Ball.
North Melbourne seems likely to secure Joel Macdonald from Brisbane, while Collingwood is yet to find out what St Kilda wants for Ball.
Magpies football manager Walsh said yesterday there was little movement.
"Nothing has moved with us on Jolly or Ball. We are status quo. We want (Jolly) and think we are making a fair deal. We have met with St Kilda (on Ball) but again they want to deal around players so we have to come up with something that satisfies them," he said.
Furthermore, had Lovett chosen another club the Saints would have instead given their first-round pick to the Bulldogs for Andrejs Everitt.
The Saints still want Everitt and under one scenario floated, they could secure him through the Luke Ball trade to Collingwood, asking the Pies to find another pick in the same bracket of picks (under pick 22) for Ball so they can pass that on to the Dogs for Everitt.
Collingwood and St Kilda made little progress in talks over Ball yesterday. St Kilda is understood to be keen on a player than a draft pick - wanting a pick only if it delivers them a player, such as Everitt.
The most feasible way of Collingwood obtaining that pick would be to trade to either of the West Australian clubs for their second-round pick - Fremantle's pick 20 or West Coast's pick 22.
Looks more likely that Collingwood will let neon Leon Davis go if they get Luke Ball.
So that means St Kilda needs to have Davis go to somewhere that the Saints want someone from.
One of my choices would be Davis back to his home town Perth to join West Coast.
Then West Coast's Ben McKinley returns to his home town to join St Kilda.
Another would be Davis to Port Adelaide
Then St Kilda takes Shaun Burgoyne.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Yeah but a McCinley for Ball swap then we get ripped off

We need a 2nd rounder as well
Yes a ring around of drafts picks would be needed to make every club moderately happy.
Collingwood would be giving up an undeserving All Australian to West Coast so West Coast would need to give up something else to make the deal work.
If we get a 2nd rounder we get Everitt.

I'd rather take their 1st round draft pick but I think that maybe wishful.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
I think Everitt would be great - could be the player to either release BJ forward, or play the forward role himself.

So potentially, through much messing around, Anything Less than pick 22 for Ball would be appropriate (not sure where this figure came from tho...), as this is enough currency to get Everitt...
Cann't Stress enough how much i want stkilda to pick this bloke up. Is a nice possible back up back line player who can go into the ruck while gardiner is off he is zippy and can jump. Better than sean dempster could possibly push into the 22 if injuries occur and i would put him infront of maguire.
What about
Luke Ball and pick 48 from St Kilda to Collingwood (who lose Leon Davis)
Leon Davis from Collingwood to Fremantle (who lose pick 20 and Brett Peake)
Pick 20 from Fremantle to Doggies (who lose Andrejs Everitt).
Brett Peake from Fremantle and Andrejs Everitt from Doggies to St Kilda (who lose Luke Ball and pick 48)

I like it...
Although Freo have said they want 5 picks within the top 50... so this is where it might hit the snag. So maybe if we could get two late second rounder together, they could go to freo for pick 20...
Everitt he couldn't break into a team that lacks talls? Am I the only one who is concerned by this? I've never rated him that highly and in essence a trade for the pick we get for ball would be ordinary Ball for Everitt yuk no thanks...

exactly right here for a side who lacks so many talls and he couldnt get a gig, geez he must be outstanding. Contract negotiation time and he wants out, does this sound familiar too..

I agree with both of you.
And - dont we really want another fkwit Everitt at the Saints.
Peter was a dropkick and a cancer. This bloke is from the same tree.
Still - after the Lovett trade anything else is a bonus i suppose.

a bonus is getting a first round pick for ball and using it on a kid or someone of note, not a tall half back flanker/come lead up forward who cant even get a game with a side desperate for talls.

Totally agree apparently we have some developing back right now anyway. If we get a 1st round pick for ball (which we bloody well should) we should pick up a youngster the top 20 you'd think would be still pretty talented.
We musn't forget about the kids in the draft especially with the pool being seriously diluted in the upcoming years (I realise it is diluted but not to the extent it will be)

Football ability aside...he has actually fallen a long way from the Spida tree
Workmate has known him his whole junior career..Andrejas played alongside his son all through Under-age comps until he was drafted Cant speak highly enough of him. Great kid who genetics apparently handed all the life skills to rather than his older brother

In essence it's Ball for Everitt and pick 48 for Peake .
