Collingwood do not want to part with their first pick
From SEN's website: Not happy (bloody filth...)
Collingwood is reluctant to give up its first-round draft pick for either of its prime targets in Sydney ruckman Darren Jolly or St Kilda midfielder Luke Ball during the AFL's trade period.
While Jolly and Ball are two of the best credentialed players on offer in this year's trade period, Collingwood insiders are bemused by the demands of the Saints and the Swans.
.........
As for Ball, the tough on-baller might still be only 25 but again the Pies are bemused that the Saints are demanding a first-round pick for a player they did not have much faith in during the course of this year given not only the amount of time he spent on the bench during games but the fact he also spent time in the VFL this season.
The Pies would be happy to give up second-round picks for either player but will need to secure an additional second-round pick from elsewhere if it is to secure both players given it would be unlikely that either the Swans or the Saints would accept third-round picks for Jolly or Ball.

The filth have a bad history in trade week, didn't get Gehrig, Stevens etc because they're not willing to deal.
Have an inflated opinion in what their list is really worth, probably explains why they don't succeed.
Obviously learn't nothing from their floggings they got in the finals.

Agree, although I doubt Jolly is worth 2 first round picks at his age. If I were Collingwood I'd be giving up my no.14 pick for Jolly before Ball for sure.xander wrote:They are kidding themselves if they think they can get Jolly without a first rounder. He's easily worth 2 first rounders imo and anything else will be a steal. As for ball he probably isn't worth a 1st rounder but i would have thought at least a low 2nd rounder and a player.

Ball may want to go to Collingwood, but if they're not prepared to meet our demends we simply walk away. There are plenty of other clubs out there and I'm sure at least one would be interested in Ball.

btw this is not just saints blinkers,
to expect to get a player like jolly who is a top 3 ruckman for a second round pick in a shallow draft is idiocy. If I was either the swans or saints I would just walk out and start talking to others. The pies are going the same way as the hawks and no-one will trade with them.

Sydney payed pick 15 for him when they got him. Since then he's got better and better. Not only that but he is contracted for 2 more years. + Ruckmen always go for more.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Agree, although I doubt Jolly is worth 2 first round picks at his age. Haven't the Hawks got enough inside midfielders? Surely they'd rather compliment them with the pace of Burgoyne rather than add a "plodder" in Ball. Do you really need Ball when you already have Mitchell?

F*** the filth.
Go in the PSD Ball and enjoy getting flogged in a Melbourne team for the next four years.

And this is why Collingwood do bugger all trades. Player says they want to go to Pies, Pies offer sweet FA in exchange for player, another club offers better deal, player goes to other club.
We got Gehrig for Sierakowski and pick 17 because the Pies wouldn't match our offer.
If they are so keen to get Jolly or Ball they will have to give up their first pick or a couple of pretty decent players. Anything less and they'll get squat AGAIN! Everybody knows it except for them.
