St Kilda's Grand Final History...
Our Club has only made consecutive Grand Finals once in it's History...
1965 - 1966....
Yes, that is sad....
But, we did not trade players that were with our Club to win our only Flag in 66...
IMO we should not trade any players to get a 29 year old that has fallen foul on many occasions in the hope of having the final success.
We have a great list, with the young players moving forward.
If the Club makes changes to recruit this player, and trade off players on our list, I feel it may destroy the fabric and bond on what this Club is aiming for, yes it's only my opinion, but one I feel the Club should notice.
Only one consecutive Grand Final appearance in our history and to recruit a 29 year old player with some issues, is not the answer IMO

One premiership does not count as history.
St Kilda FC has no history, but it could have a future (without Fevola).

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Yes ONE premiership does not really count as history, but our Grand Final appearances does, and our only consecutive Grand Final appearance was 1965 & 1966...ace wrote:One premiership does not count as history.

And yes, we have a future with our list, lets keep that list together, without a 29 year old WITH HISTORY

History is history, good or bad. We didn't need to trade players in the 60's because we had the best of all lists (Baldock, Stewart, Ditterich etc).
But, this is the naughties. However, we don't need to trade players now.
It's all about the bottled disappointment (as Roo said).
I reckon there's only one pertinent question - who will we play in 2010? And, the Dogs ain't a lay down misere.
But, we are.

Trading didn't happen then. We lost some players with injury, but a few younger blokes came through over the rounds in 1966. Breen, Moran and Davis established themselves.....blokes like Rowland and Oakley fell away injured and dropped. Bingley played one of his few games in the 66 GF, and I think that was it for him.

Re: St Kilda's Grand Final History...
Basically I concur...with the caveat of any player that wants to stay.St Fidelius wrote:

Someone like Goose may decide that he does not want to play out the year with Sandy.
If no other club stumps upa good offer...then wo knows first pick + Goose may swing it.
But then again Lyon may be of a mind that another type of player better suits our needs compared to another key forward.
