I reckon theres no chance we'd offer Ball and pick 16 for Burgoyne.
Why would we? The Burgers 27, Ball just played (well) in a GF, and we want to use our 3-4 picks in the ND.
Besides, Lenny needs ongoing help in the in and under capacity.
We don't have a plethora of inside players.

We got a couple of young in-and-under kids coming through - Armo & Steven say hello. But I don't think personally that this rumour is true... I think at most we'd offer pick 16...
Having said that, Burgoyne is a player who I would love to have here! If we can get him fully fit, would be a magnificent acquisition

Bally has to agree to terms with the club first. If he agrees to the contract offered to him, then you're probably right, he will stay. The club would be happy to keep Bally on their terms for sure. If Bally isn't happy with the offer then I reckon they would be saying you're welcome to look elsewhere.
To say Bally isn't going anywhere makes no sense to me. Who says Bally wants to stay on the terms being offered to him? Who says the club is prepared to revise up their offer if bally isn't happy? The 46% game time in the GF was hardly a ringing endorsement from the match committee in their confidence in Bally.
I reckon if the deal was right, the club will trade Luke Ball. The deal would have to be exceptional though. To me, Shaun Burgoyne is an exceptional deal though.

If Port Adelaide were keen to do it and Ross Lyon was fair dinkum with his "no sentiment in football" line then he'd have to take it.
As good and as great a clubman as Bally is, a player with his skill-set are a dime a dozen.
Burgoyne at his best is one of the top 10 footballers in the comp. Size, power, pace, beautiful skills and was reported to be Mark Williams' choice to captain Port this year. If we're looking for a player to roam from midfield to half-forward and chip in with a few goals, he would be perfect.
Don't see it happening though.

I dont like it - is is way too expensive for a 28 yo mid with dodgy knees and who doesnt even want to play for the Saints...
Whilst he would be fantastic in our team, i feel that he is simply too expensive to get.
Also, for those labelling Burgoyne as a pure outside mid, he is actually far from it. In 2008 he finished fourth in the club best and fairest and was second at the club in centre clearances, tackles and inside 50s, and fourth in goals (23), contested possessions and bounces.
From the AFL prospectus: "His strength is his work in tight, consistently ranking high in clearances, hard-ball gets and tackles, but he must win more uncontested possessions to match it with the AFL's best midfielders such as Gary Ablett"
So no disputing his quality as a player, but i dont think he is worth Ball and our first pick (remembering we will still get some quality with this selection)...
