if this is for fev,
4 players for 1?
then we need to find more players.
geary, and mini are part of the future.

All four players are required players.

McQualter will not be traded. We lack forward options and avenues to goal, and you are giving up a player who was #2 for our forward pressure, and #5 for goals this year at the Saints?

Ditto Geary, but for different reasons.

However, Goose + Gwilt yes.

yes for fev.
i'm just trying to do the math.
we have to give a bit to get a bit.
and as far as avenues to goal i think fevOLAR will be able to help there.

so what have we got: a 700k target and about forty players to choose from.
why not a bundle with two big solids and two young guns?

they're on:
maguire 100-150k
geary 100-150k
mcqualter 210k
gwilt 210k

that's about 700k worth of cattle

My math says

geary will play 100+ games
so will Mcaulter
gwilt maybe 50
maguire if he gets right 100

so 350 games for a player that will play between 50 and 100.

I'm kinda confused. WHy would we wanna get rid of geary & mini?
And why would carlton want 4 decent players when they could ask for 1 or 2 great players and a draft pick?

That would be like Carlton offering us Hadley, Cloke, O'Hailpin and Joseph for Riewoldt.

geary whilst a gun will only ever play in the small forward pocket.
mcqualter is a genuine up-and-comer but you have to give a little.
it has been proven that gwilty is a H&A specialist in the decoy role.
and the jury is out on goose and whether he will get a game next season at the saints and/or as a consequence if ever.

I'm pretty sure Geary has never played forward pocket. Isn't he a half back/ mid. Anyway carlton don't want our depth players they'd rather have Goddard or someone like that.

I think fev wont be worth it.

No matter who you trade for him.

He would take Kosi's posi, which he would be a better FF but you run the risk of destroying the team fabric and all the baggage he brings with him as well doesn't help. If all things being equal fev will play for anther 2 or 3 years but Kosi anther 5 or 6.

You have to look long term with these deals plenty of teams in the past have had their eyes just on the next year and more often than not wrecked themselves for years to come this could be one of those decisions. I think with age and cost (in terms of trade and salary cap) of Fev and behavioural problems he's not worth it.

Saying that get a cheap trade and a low wage and get him off the piss (all three will be nearly impossible) then do it.

Exactly. I don't understand all this eagerness to get Fev over here.
Is it because he was a saints supporter and we are trying to be nice and get everyone who supported the saints as a kid to play for them?
He doesn't fit a need at all. We'd be better keeping the draft picks and use it to recruit a speedy player imo.

you make a good point, but it just depends.
we have too many players. the most of any list, and we dont use them.
if we were wanting fev and we needed to clear 700k thats how i would go about it.

fev is possibly the most talented FF in the game mate we would be mad not to consider our position.

One of the most talented. Remember he is the only target up there for carlton. If he came here then his tally of goals would decrease because there are other guys kicking the goals. And anyway we are struggling with salary cap as it is we don't need another 400k+ player coming in.
Also our list is split up into the players recurited around 2000 who form the core of our team which we cannot afford to break and the kids which we need to keep if we want to remain competitive in the next 5 years. We can't really afford to give too much up.

Maybe. You do have to wonder whether he would kick as many goals here as he does at Carlton. He's pretty much the only forward option there. That certainly wouldn't be the case here.

Is he enough of an improvement on Kosi to warrant the kind of price it would cost the club? Will he chase and tackle and give 100% for four quarters? I have my doubts.

which premiership would that be again? oh yeah, that one.
we have a LOT of other guys that can come in .. mcevoys, armitages, etc etc etc etc..
our list is endless at this point we need to give a bit if we were to want.
i would take 55 from fev and five in a grand final and so would he.
