Doc on Sports Tonight
Did anyone see him?
Looks like his condition has worsened since I last saw him during the after match presentation for the 03 GF.
He still seems really excited for the club. I couldn't help but feel a little emotional.

the difficulty is that when he gets exctied or emotional- his emotion button goes into overdrive.
and the thought of the Saints winning another one is enough to make anyone emotional.

My sources over there are in complete accord, Animal.Animal Enclosure wrote:Friends in Tassie who know the Doc very well say he's not well at all.
They have been saying that they hoped he would make it through to GF week should the Sainters be there. Fingers crossed the boys give him a wonderful experience.
I'd really like him to see a second Saints premiership, but have strong concerns that he is not up to a presentation.
Bit like watching Tony Lockett sitting on the bench for Port Melb; I'd rather my last memory of him be positive.

Just fabulous.Sainternist wrote:
What staggered me is that even back tehn (well before Barassi's famous handball after halftime in teh 1970 GF) Baldock was using the handpass as an 'offensive weapon'.
He also was kicking with both feet and doing things htat have become part of the game 20-30 years later.
Truly a genius on teh football field.

I am fortunate enough to have known Doc all my life and grew up with him giving me football tips every Friday after school.
I last saw Doc about a year ago at my cousins wedding and he was in good health and in great spirits. He does get emotional at times but this is a result of his strokes and does not always mean he is overly sad or over-awed with a situation.
I reckon the real reason Doc didnt want to come over to Melbourne is that he didn't want to leave his horses. Marg will have to look after them on her own this weekend as obviously Cowboy and Gypsy convinced him that it would mean so much to the players and supporters that he attend.
If there is one thing that Doc was renowned for was his toughness. He may not be in the best of health but he will be there on Saturday hopefully watching the first of many premierships that he will be there for over the next few years!!

Swapping jumpers was a great tradition, which has now died, due to corporatisation.3rd generation saint wrote:It would be a nice touch if someone gave him a number 4 guernsey, as the last time he was on the podium handling a premiership cup he was in a Collingwood jumper.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
