Amazing prelim stat
I just read in an article that since 1999, all 16 teams have participated in at least one prelim final. I find that amazing, and I checked it and its 100% correct.
For me, it shows that what the AFL are doing with the draft and salary cap is good for the game.

haha, i'm just trying to take my mind off the game for at least part of the day. i'm going insane waiting (and being in brisbane, we have to wait an extra hour to watch it)widereceiver wrote:Draft schmaft, all I care about is getting through tonight. One out of four is not too much to ask for.
not sure how i am going to resist turning on the internet
I heard another stat last night at the pub which made me think.
In the last decade, 100% of the teams that won the preliminary final went on to play in the Grand Final the following week.

Disagree. To come up with a system(s) that enables all 16 sides to be one game away from a Grand final over the space of 9 years is quite remarkable. Yeah, Richmond and Carlton (gee thats a shame) and others have only been in one, but it's not a bad effort.Batnoe wrote:The AFL isnt doing too much

yeah it is good all teams have, but i guess it comes down to recruiting staff and how well they pick, obvioulsy Richmond are hopelessSaintHomer wrote:Disagree. They were flying that year. It was strange to see Fremantle as one of the premiership favourites.Iceman234 wrote:Hard to believe Freo ever got that far...
I remember having a hard time trying to convince myself that they were actually a threat for the flag after they smashed us at Subiaco that year. They were brilliant that night. Was the night Goddard kick that 80 metre torp I believe.
