Warneys Birthday Bash

Post: # 818292Post StSteven »

Heard this morning that none of the Saints boys were there.

Was very pleased to hear that until they then said Gary Ablett Jnr was there!

(Source: SEN)
Now I am confused as to whether I am pleased or not.!!!!!! :>p

I think former Saint Aaron Hamill may have been there.

Anyway, Isn't Warney on the Bombers now?

Warney is still a Saints man and he will always be ...

His son barracks for Essendon, hence the Bombers link.

Sammy Hamill was there ... the current group of Saints players I imagine would have stayed away due to finals preparation?

Was a photo of Aaron in the Herald Sun - looked to have trimmed down a lot from his playing days.

Grant Thomas and Brendan Fevola were also there together with Jeff Fenech, Eddie McGuire, Ian Chappell, Joe Hachem, James Brayshaw and Trevor Marmalade just to name a few.

No, I didn't get an invite - there were photos on the Herald-Sun site earlier today!! :)

Nigel Murch was a very good fast bowler for St. Kilda in district cricket, with a long career. I am pretty sure he played for Victoria and obviously Warney was a former St. Kilda cricketer.

Was there on the outer wing as a youngster flying the flag in '66 - still loyal, still passionate!

I'm not 100% certain but I think Murch was his coach at St Kilda Cricket Club.

According to the Sports Confidential page in today's Herald Sun several of the Saints players were invited but declined to attend in favour of going to watch the Bulldogs/Lions game.

What you forgot to add, is that they were strongly advised by the club to attend the bulldogs/Brisbane Lions game, just in case some weren't quite sure what to do
