I am glad you are sticking up for your Mum but if she is going to go on radio and Tv and sometimes say some silly things then she might cop it on these sort of sites. Most things said about her will be positive but thee will be some negative things said as well.judys wrote:saint1974 wrote:Yes I know Ivy and she isn't negative is absolutely passionate about all our boys her living room is a shrine to the saints, all her walls are covered with Saints players and history.Saint Bev wrote:Does anyone know Ivy? She is very negative. Jack Barker surely would have to be one of our top supporters. Or maybe someone from the Cheer Squad, some of those people have been doing that for a loooooooong time.
Ivy started The Angels a womens group that helped support the players and the club and she is still an active member of this group she is a life time member of our club over 50 years of continuos membership.
At the age of 88 the day after this years grandfinal she attends all games even interstate games even though she walks with a stick and it is painful and takes a lot out of her to walk a distance.
I would consider Ivy or Jack Barker our icon supporters of the club.
By the way I consider the jigginsaint a character and love his passion too!
Thank you Saint1974, she didnt start the Angels but yes she is still an active member of the group. She is very passionate about her "boys"
and I would like to thank you for the support you have given her Judy
Who is the Saint's most fanatical supporter?

Good on ya Shultzy.
My pick woulda been the Jiggster. I consider myself very fortunate to have shaken his hand a few times.
people around these parts worthy of special mention would be the likes of saint66au and of course the information person Saintbrat. She seems to know when everything is announced.
Forget about all the overseas people like me ,,,,if we were that fanatical ,, would we be living overseas ???
If bloody Swan hadn't changed the tax rules this year , I was seriously contemplating a return to Melbourne only to be closer to the Saints.

And don't forget who first coined the name the Jiggster or the Jigging saint.I posted a thread here about 4 years ago after seeing him doing his famous jig after a victory over Collingwood at the Dome...think it was titled "So who was the Jigging saint?"...and the rest is history with Dave himself answering the question...saint66au wrote:PM or ask him sometime...Its quite detailed and I couldnt do it justicebigcarl wrote:how did he?saint66au wrote:I vote for the Jiggster also. the story of how he became a Saints fan is just wonderful
Best thread I ever posted and the place has never been the same
Gets my nod re the classic supporter...would have been close between the Jiggster and my late Dad Sir Walter though...
Lived and breathed the saints and still had to go for a nervous walk when things got tight well into his eighties...
A habit he passed onto his son
When they won was known to go down to the Sorrento Hotels and play "oh when the saints" on his trumpet...
They were days

Felt that if we had lost that game our chance for a premiership was gone....and worst still was the thought of the filth inflicting that on our dreams
Was very emotional at the siren...god help me in the next 2 cut throat weeks

Seriously, I'm sure many of us would be interested. If its really detailed maybe someone can give it its own thread, but as SS "family" it would be great to know the story before our Jiggster becomes a famous mega star and his SS days are just a fond memory........bigcarl wrote:fair enoughsaint66au wrote:PM or ask him sometime...Its quite detailed and I couldnt do it justicebigcarl wrote:how did he?saint66au wrote:I vote for the Jiggster also. the story of how he became a Saints fan is just wonderful

Hi Folks! I don't know what to say (for once ) I'm sure that it will be a giggle doing this video, but a part of me feels a bit of a fake when I consider folks like Jack, Ivy, The MW, Billy Cobb and any ONE of the CS who have been doing the tough yards for DECADES! for our club.
I hope that I can do the right thing by everyone who has been kind enough to "nominate"(?) me for the "award"
GO SAINTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dave
(sorry I have to pop off to the limo now the paparazzi are hanging around )
