ball did his job

Post: # 813489Post gosainters66 »

alot of people are saying ball wasnt very good but i thought he was very good he played about 60% game time had 16 disposals 10 were contested and 5 clearances 2 frees and 3 tackles , a pretty good game for the amount of game time he had imo .

agreed, in that second quarter i thought he was one of the people that helped swing the tide our way, a couple of hard ball get clearences into the forward 50 were crucial.

Well done Luke Ball, but dont stop now, this is just the beginning!

As Mark Fine said on SEN you have to judge the bloke as a bottom six player now and not a top six player. I rekon just about any other club would love to have him as there 18-22 man.

He was great in the centre today. Only miss kicked twice both times inside 50 with a shot towards the goals neither made the distance.

All in all he did more than enough to play again next week IMO

He will play again in two weeks time.

Did his job today, especially in the first half when we needed to hang in there and stay in a winning position.

i'm not his biggest fan, but i think he may be valuable in that he saves lenny from being used purely as a human battering ram.

the record shows that we've played our best football this season with him in the side. coincidence? I don't know.

Why is he getting so little game time?

Is it that he isn't fit enough?

Is it that Lyon doesn't really want him in his team and would have preferred someone like Dempster or Geary?

You get the clear sense that Ball wants to be on the field more often than he is allowed to be.

It's a funny state of affairs. I really wouldn't be surprised to see him move on to another club at season's end.

Bally is an on-baller. He gets so little game time because he can only be effective in that role and at this stage there are blokes ahead of him.
He has been tried on a HFF and failed.

I don't think it's got anything to do with his fitness or the fact that Lyon prefers others. Dempster can play a number of roles, as can Geary.

Bally needs to be in the middle to have any influence on the game and I thought he did a good job in the time he got yesterday.
I love him, he is one of my favourites, but right now he is behind a few of our on-ball brigade and his game time is a reflection of that.

And should have had a few more. The high-tackle rule generally doesn't seem to apply to Luke.

Did his job.
Second highest contested possession winner on the ground.
Am happy with that.

He deserves to keep his spot but don't over rate the performance.

He put other players under pressure with his disposal once again.

He did try to cover the ground yesterday which was pleasing, but I wouldn't

say he was anywhere near one of our best.
