Umpiring...
Was good today. Didn't miss many and made sure that Nick was fairly treated. Pies supporters were also impressed.

Yep agreed, thought the umpiring was pretty good.

That was probably the most consistent umpiring display all year in our games, they missed a couple for both sides but nothing that would have impacted the end result or that caused supporters to feel cheated out of a free.
I have been a critic this year of some the umpiring but today I was pleased with the three umpires. The game flowed and they gave players every opportunity.

They did a lot of that.saintspremiers wrote:My only complaints were the play on's called in the third term for 2 twenty five metre passes in our backline.
Also paid 3 or 4 against us for throws when we were tackled. The Montagna one was there but the others looked like guesses particularly the one against Blake.
Soft, soft, soft free to Thomas in front of goal. Compare that to O'Brien jumping from a great height on to Schneider's back 20m from goal.

Too many; "not 15, play on"... at least 4 obvious holding on Roo & Kosi missed in our forward 50...as well as Schneid's blatant in the back.
Should have won by at least 40.
Ump's efforts were ordinary as per usual.

Yes, they may be the best pick for the Grand Final.

Re: Umpiring...
Not according to Owen, a pies supporter, on SEN after the game. He claimed there were 2 frees paid to the Saints that were only paid to keep us in the game and eventually cost Collingwood the game!!!perfectionist wrote:Was good today. There were some ripper calls on the drive home, 2 brought up the Greening incident with one claiming Yabby instructed O'Dea to kill Greening (he was shut down very quickly. The other got very emotional and started to cry and couldn't finish what he wanted to say. I hope for his sake he's not also a Michael Jackson fan. A tragic and disgusting piece of St Kilda football history but at some stage people have to move on.
Surprisingly there were also some very rational and complimentary Pies supporters.

Agree only seemed to miss Saints free kicks. maybe we will get better umpires next game.Animal Enclosure wrote:I though Chamberlain was good, McInerney good & Rosebury inconsistent.
Not bad but personally that were a few shockers that they missed especially Dal getting kneed in the head after a centre bounce that was glaringly obvious.

The one against Blake, whilst he does himself no favours, was not a free...The ump paid holding the ball...The Collingwood player did not actually tackle Blake. All he did was knock the ball from his hands.kosifantutti23 wrote:Also paid 3 or 4 against us for throws when we were tackled. Not sure under which rule that constitutes a free kick.
Anyway, we won...who cares...
