Decent game. Held Rocca ok. Rocca had that one mark, but to be honest none of our defenders would have got near that, and then Dawson commited to a contest and the ball came out and went to Rocca. Disposal a bit iffy at times, but imo he is still ahead of Max.

OK without being great, tough position he plays because it is not a straight match up but rather FB at all costs. Often the lastman standing and has to pick up someone who drops into their forward line? Thats how I see it anyway.

Good to see him angry, good to see him stand up for himself, always good to see him celebrate. Good to see Gilbert and others rally around him with encouragement.

Dogs provide much different match ups IMO. Interesting selection if dogs get through?

Maybe this year?

Was very solid today, and got better as the game went on...

Annoyed me beyond belief the saints supporters around me that were willing to hang sh1t on him and constantly comment that Max would do everything he did better...

"Lucky Zac - we still prefer Max" is a line I heard far too often today...

Well done Daws...

Zac was ok, but would prefer Hudghton, I still reckon he's a little suspect under pressure

Zac was nervous early (understandably so), but got better as the game went on. Deserves to keep is spot in the prelim.

if you linesten to finey he is saying that max probably won't be picked due to the way the saints play . team defence. team attack.

18 possessions by zac max doesn't do that.

max is great one on one. noone disputes that, but the saints are not playing that way much this year.

The way Zac played today, I will now make the call that we have seen the last game from Max.

Max, thank you for your many years of service. I do feel for you this month, but I know deep down you only want the best for the team. You are a major part of this great St Kilda team. I hope you enjoy the rest of the year, and keep building those buildings you build.

never say never - max is only a poor game, injury, or suspension to a few particular players, away.
hope he keeps believing.
but zac overcame some bad nerves early (and some over enthusiastic attempts to bump) to play a good game.

Zac was great he held his nerve played a great game.

BAKER was brilliant. No one will be dropped although I would have Armitage ahead of Eddy that is all.

Armitage is a better kick for goal and can play eddys role i dont get it.

My only swipe. Max will play if we pklay the Lions BUT why would we want max playing small doggies forward line??

Agree never say never but for the Saints sake I hope none of what you mentioned happens.

I'm tipping a poor game would not be enough as we will still have had to have won for Max to play again and I doubt after a poor game will Zac be dropped.

Deserves his spot and did nothing today to jeopardise it.

Something I've noticed - not sure whether I'd call it a deficiency.
Where other players would try and scoop up the ball in a contested/pressure situation, or tackle the opposition who is almost in possession of it; or punch it away etc.
Zac Dawson has this almost horizontal barrel roll - which renders him completely useless for any further follow-up contest, and is 50/50 chance of actually making desired contact/impact

For want of a better word- anyone else noticed this "horizontal barrel roll" - and what do we think?
