The following Pies may be suspect under finals-like pressure
IMO
Wood, Toovey, Johnson, Dick, Leigh Brown, Cloke, Wellingham, Fraser.
Either a questionable mentality, very small-bodied or both.
I can see most of these players go missing on Sunday.

I just don't reckon they have enough talent across the board to win three finals games.
However, that doesn't mean they'll be easy to beat on Sunday. Malthouse will have them believing that our performances over the past few weeks are a sign that there is blood in the water and that, if they come out firing, we are likely to implode and they'll run away with the game.

He's the sort of medium-sized forward who is relatively easy to shut down if the opposing coach feels this is worth tying up a defender for. The better his form, the more likely it is that he someone will given a shutdown role on him.ohwhenthesaints! wrote:What about Jack Anthony, earlier this year Mike Sheahan had him kicking for his life, and his form happened to drop for a few weeks. Perhaps pressure doesn't sit well with him?
It isn't really possible to build an attack long-term around a player like Anthony IMO. Ideally you need a couple of talls and at least one crumber, so your Anthonys become your 4th or 5th forward.

I struggle to find many (if any ) tough in and under types in the Pies line up...............Lockyer maybe ...
Not sure they are too keen on tough footy.(yesterday v dog's was not an ideal prep for final's imo...soft,free flowing, tackleless game)
Hit hard and often early and half their side will put up the white flag imo.

last few weeks not the best i agree, but a few crunching tackles early and plenty of pressure on the ball carrier will lead to the perceived pressure and ultimately fumbles and turn overs(the hallmark of the first 19 rounds).........i hope anywayaussiejones wrote:" Hit hard and often early and half their side will put up the white flag imo."
We show little signs of returning to this play . I know against the Denons was a dead rubber as was the previous two weeks .
Every side has players that may be suspect under finals-like pressure.plugger66 wrote:Dont go along at all that some Collingwood players may be suspect at finals time. Why them and not us? Why didnt the Hawks have many if any last year.
Nobody is doubting that we wouldn't have these players.
If the thread was titled, "AFL players who may be suspect under finals-like pressure", you may have a point but it clearly states "the following Pies..."
You can still perform whilst under immense pressure. Players gain confidence from seeing their teammates performing so if we're up and about, the confidence will flow through.
When a team is under the cosh, IMO it is those players with suspect mentalities who would be more likely to go into their shell and not do anything about it.
