Schneider Shocker
Schneider has been way down in the last few games.
Is his place in the side under threat.

It's funny.... I thought Schneider's form from Rounds 15-20 was incredible. The best 5 weeks of footy he has put together - was kicking goals, chasing hard, tackling and taking marks.
Has dropped off a little since - maybe the effects of some tapering?
Nonetheless is a critical part of our forward pressure. His place is safe ...
PLUS he owes us for that Prelim in '05 ... Schneids still has to win a final for the Saints off his own boot!

Yes
Prelim 2005.
I went numb halfway through the final quarter and have since tried to erase it from my mind.
Did he kick 2 goals or was it 3 goals in that final quarter ?

Schneider was terrific from about Rd 11-18 or 19: made me eat my words about him not being much chop.
He has been a bit invisible for the last few weeks.
As I understand it, he has chronic niggling injuries: I believe this is why the Swans decided to move him on.
Perhaps his injuries are bothering him more ATM. This is a worry: he really didn't deliver anything much in the final series last year. We need him in his best form if we are going to take out the flag this year.

of course, given that the OP was talking about the game on the weekend, where schneider only had one (1) tackle, your argument about the entire season has very little merit.InkerSaint wrote:Schneider shocker?

many said dempster (including me) was in the side because he was RLs mate, clearly proven wrong.
many said baker was out of the side because he was GTs mate, again clearly proven wrong, in fact he was carried for the first week back in the side, and subsequently proved RL right with a return to form.
etc etc etc.
im of the opinion that RL knows what he is doing.
if we lose its because we were beaten by a better side, I can't see how the coach could do too much better.
if the players don't have the motivation to put their bodies on the line for a junk game, go back and look at the reiwoldt highlights tape...

Dan I usually like your stuff, but you've lost me here. I don't recall anyone ever suggesting that Lyon has it in for Bakes. As far as I can recall, Bakes has always been selected under Lyon except when he was injured (or in the case of the recent game against the Hawks, "injured").Dan Warna wrote:many said dempster (including me) was in the side because he was RLs mate, clearly proven wrong.

And as for Dempster, he hasn't delivered much since coming back from injury but keeps getting selected, while others are dropped after performing ok or better. So how can you suggest that the idea that he is a favoured son of Lyon has been disproved? It certainly would be if he gets dropped this week, but most seem to be predicting that he will keep his spot.

Schneider has been one of the keys to our improvement this year, so let's drop him. He's a walk up for any club's 22 I would think.
As for Dempster... RL will have a clue (unlike us) as to the type of player he wants in the team. This would explain why Dempster is getting more game time.
If you honestly think he gets picked because he's a "fave" of the coach, then you need to get a clue.

Not completely true MB . For example Dempster shut down Hodge.
Also while Demspter has not played a great game..he has not played a bad one either....and several were useful.
However I would see Dempster as not having regained his pre-injury form.
I would currently see him in front of Eddy...but thereabouts with players like Gwilt.
Could be in or out at present.
