Hardly seems worth it!
Go 20-2, five games clear of fourth and they get a home final! AFL needs to fix this. All teams assured of home final except for 'Dome' teams. Why can they cop a smaller crowd interstate but not in Melbourne.
Yes, not at all fair. Although it does give more people the opportunity to see the game live, it is unfair that the #1 team has to play an away final.
Out of interest, will it be labelled as a St Kilda "home" game?

WHY would you deny access to 20 to 30,000 fans (including many thousand MCC and AFL members who pay a fortune mainly for finals access) when you have a 100,000 seat stadium 5 minutes away?
How many alternatives do they have in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Calm down buddy it was just an observation. Why? It's called equality. Forget the reason they are doing it (we all know why) but the saints are a much better team at Etihad. I'd happily sit at home if it meant they had more of a chance of winning and there is no doubt they have a better chance at Etihad. That's just a fact.saintspremiers wrote:Oh FFS get a grip!Saintmania wrote:Go 20-2, five games clear of fourth and they get a home final! AFL needs to fix this. It will be our home game so be interesting to see who'll wear the 'clash' jumper. If we cave in and wear the white one I won't be happy.

Question is does an extra 5 hours make much difference?desertsaint wrote:fixture released - doggies get rooted by the afl and play sat arvo, not night - some reward for a good win today and third spot!
In the end, I doubt it.
Obviously Channel 10 preferred to be able to broadcase "LIVE" into Melbourne on Saturday night (interstate game: Bris/Carlton), whilst the Pies Dogs game is no doubt banned from going live against the gate unless sold out (a finals rule, as the AFL keep all the gate, as opposed to Home and Away, where the clubs get a cut, and many (ie all foxtel games in Melbourne), go live against the gate!).

well i'd happily sacrifice the chance to watch the first week of finals if it gave us a better chance of winning, getting the week off, and being best prepared for the prelim.
games at the G as 'practice' for the final are not nearly as important as making the final! some of you seem to think us making the final will just happen as a natural extension to winning the minor.
the game should first and foremost be about equity - everything else should come secondary to that basic principle. So the afl makes a few hundred grand less as a result - whoopy do.

We kicked the Pies' butts last year at their home ground after being humiliated by the Cats the week before. I don't see them as being significantly better than last year. Who would say after a 20-2 H & A we aren't?
We have to beat them at least once this finals series to win the thing.
The media darlings are not the form team all of a sudden. Will Walls and Sheehan et al recant when we do them slowly, AGAIN?
