So how do we rate our opposition this finals series?

So how do we rate our opposition this finals series?
I was wondering how people rate our potential opposition in this years finals series?
Anyone you're particularly worried about?
Anyone you had previously written off as a challenger, that has re-emerged as a threat?
Anyone your confident is just making up the numbers?
For mine....Collingwood, Adelaide and Essendon.

I'm not worried about anyone, we've beaten them all.
Geelong will be there. We'll probably play them on 26 September.

I am also confident, but I will not underestimate any of the competition.Bernard Shakey wrote:Are making up the numbers, or you're worried about?ohwhenthesaints! wrote:I was wondering how people rate our potential opposition in this years finals series?

Forgive me for attempting to start a new thread Bernard, I should have run it by you first....Bernard Shakey wrote:Let me get this right, you're worried about Collingwood, Adelaide and Essendon, but not Bisbane, Footscray, Carlton or Geelong, but you respect them all.
Is that right?
I posed three questions...and I gave three answers, not really that difficult?

Sorry, I misunderstood the OP. I didn't realise you had answered three different questions in one sentence.ohwhenthesaints! wrote:Forgive me for attempting to start a new thread Bernard, I should have run it by you first....Bernard Shakey wrote:Let me get this right, you're worried about Collingwood, Adelaide and Essendon, but not Bisbane, Footscray, Carlton or Geelong, but you respect them all.

Having said that, I'm not concerned about anyone, but Geelong are our main opposition.
Doggies are better since we beat them, but we will beat them again.
Brisbane, Carlton and Essendon are just making up the numbers.

geelong's been the benchmark for the greater part of three seasons.Bernard Shakey wrote:Geelong will be there. We'll probably play them on 26 September.
we were for a few weeks after round 14, but have slipped a bit in the past month. we still have plenty to prove.
they are by no means the only threat, but they loom as the biggest one.

The best thing the filth got going for them is Malthouse, he is a very good coach, but unlike Blight in 97, he has premierships to his name.
However, Collingwood's style of game because of their personnel falls very nicely into our game plan.
Their lack of key forwards and key defenders make them vulnerable.
It's interesting that they do well against Geelong and Bulldogs, but Hawthorn has smashed them every time.
Why, because Hawthorn's tactics, of which ours our based on, and their two big power forwards the filth cannot control.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Pies, Crows, Cats, Dogs and Saints. Any could take the lot. One injury here, a lucky bounce there...it's what makes this finals so hards to predict. that said, if we dish up the tripe we have the last 2 weeks we're out in straight sets. get back to our best and the flag's ours. It's up to us, not the opposition. Don't win, and we've choked like no other team in history.

It would take a team pulling a near miracle from their backsides, or us getting some injuries to stop us this year.
We've smashed the "big" teams when it matters. And I'll say it again: I expect to win this year.
My smokey is Adelaide to go deep.

Well everyone seemed mainly concerned about Collingwood, best to get them out of the way then....bit like eating your vegies firstmarksnsparks wrote:Collingwood worry me. We played them a long time ago and they were missing 10 of their top players so a bit of an unknown quantity.
GF will be Saints v Pies

Geelong - Best team apart from us by a mile. Expect them to be back to their best for finals (like us) and be in GF for sure.
Bulldogs - Very good unit but with a couple of major flaws. We have the wood on them, beat them twice fairly easily and would love to meet them. Still dangerous and could upset us in a prelim
Adelaide - Could surprise us, underrated team and midfield in particular.
Collingwood - most overrated team of all time in all likelihood. it wouldnt have mattered who played earlier in the year, we still would have smashed them. They're a better team now, but if we bring our a game they shouldn't get close
Brisbane - Could be a smokey but overall pretty harmless
Carlton and Essendon - Useless
