Round 22 - for those who are interested in stats and 2000

Post: # 804849Post Newman »

As most of us know, Essendon lost 1 game in 2000 in Round 21 against Dogs. In the last round they only beat Collingwood by 3 goals - pretty ordinary considering Pies were 2nd last. (Both even at 3/4 time)

Anyway, they finished the year with For: 2816 (we are currently 2083 - big difference!) and their against was 1770 (but ours is a stingy 1344 ... is this a record ?). Their % was 159%. However if we beat Dees by approx. 100 points our % would be 160% (Is that a record?)

So they finished off the season in last few rounds in a pretty ordinary way - but in their first final thrashed Roos and kicked an amazing 198 points! They then won other finals comfortably and won flag.

Let's HOPE and BELIEVE that's how our season will finish off!!

The Dons slacked off the last few weeks.

But were back to their best (arguably better) come round 1 of finals...and never looked back.

Repeat of history would be nice. :)

Geelong finished with 161% last year.

But we are looking at a shoo-in for least points conceded in a 22 round season.

The seasons to beat are Geelong '08, Essendon '00, Carlton '95.
