I laughed at Sam taking the piss out of Dale Thomas for saying that Richmond are in a good vein of form.
Over the last four weeks, Tigers are number one in the competition for scores against from a stoppage and scores from a stoppage and therefore, according to Thomas, the Pies will be up against it this weekend.
Shane Crawford's naked cartwheel while Warne was being interviewed brought a little chuckle too.
And Dal continuing to claim that he was legitimately "crook with an undiagnosed illness" yet went to Roo's place for a BBQ with all the "injured" St Kilda eight wasn't the most humourless thing I've ever seen. Evidently Dal found that pretty funny too.

Does someone on this forum actually believe Sam Newman is a God!???
I don't think I've ever seen a more damaged human being parading around on TV.

Agreed. Unfortunately, no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of at least half of the population. Trevor Marmalade used to say things that were actually funny, but he got the boot. Vicious and pious sarcasm is the best TFS can offer with a few Benny Hill moments.aussierules0k wrote:Forget TFS... we don't need it. They talk a load of rubbish, yes there is a couple of jokes thrown in, but really it's a total waste of time.
Who cares what Sam thinks? Really think about it.
Gary Lyon is a wanker - not worth a moment's thought.
Brayshaw is the Pres of NM... piss off.
Brownless is a stooge for the breweries, "Drink Piss" is all he's good for.
The Saints are the only thing I'm interested in. 2 mins out of 2 hours is just not worth it.
Sex with your wife or husband will be much more rewarding!

I agree. Found all the above amusing. Then I went to bed at 10.00 p.m. About as much humour as I could sustain for one night. Although the Dal comments were genuinely funny (to me anyway) or was I laughing out of relief?OLB wrote:I laughed at Sam taking the piss out of Dale Thomas for saying that Richmond are in a good vein of form.

Footy show is nothing like the early 90's. I recall footy training on a THursday night, and everyone would want the teams read out so they could get home and watch the Footy Show. Not sure it holds that sort of interest these days though. I think the fact that every person who tunes in has already known the ins and outs for the past 4 hours doesn't help either.

The Footy Show ended the day Eddie left.
I occasionally try and sit through the shell of a once great show but I often struggle to get more than a half hour or so in.
Sam Newman is an intelligent, witty man, who knows his football as well as any of the so called experts out there. However he is yesterday's man, he hasn't conformed to today's PC standards and a huge number of people can't accept him because of it. It is disappointing that he is being instructed to go out there and be controversial for controversies' sake.
Gary Lyon is too busy preserving his image for when he eventually makes his inevitable transfer into coaching. He is a fence sitter at the best of times. However he does have a sense of humour, when he is playing serious Gary, that is just an angle, he is doing it for a laugh. I always find it amusing that people don't like Gary because he takes himself too seriously... wasn't this the same bloke who put on a wedding dress and kissed Shane Crawford on national television?
Billy is like Sam, he knows his footy and has a lot to offer, especially considering his importance down at Geelong, he would have as much knowledge of modern footy as a majority of the journos...
JB is a buffoon, I was a fan of him on The Cage on MMM and I was a fan of him on Any Given Sunday, but he has been terrible for TFS, I am sick of his lame inside jokes, his over enthusiasm and his feeble attempts to be taken seriously because he is the president of North...
Then we get to Shane, there is not a single good thing to say about Shane Crawford. The man is an imbecile, he is a talentless, stupid, attention seeking moron. He offers nothing to television and the sooner he is off our screens the better. Even when he tries to offer something insightful about footy he barely brushes the surface, he is a one dimensional character who went stale about 10 years ago.
The fact that he had his whole 'That's what I'm talking about' planned before he went out in a Grand Final really shows you how selfish he is. Can you imagine if a St Kilda player went into this years GF with a little catch phrase they planned on shouting out to make sure when people look back at that day they are the enduring image. It is really really sad, and it pains me no end that he managed to get a brownlow from his one good year of football and then he was lucky enough to be a part of an over performing team that dragged the liability that he had become across the line for a premiership...
The way I see it, the Footy Show usually goes for two hours, and I might get 3 or 4 giggles out of it, eg. Them ripping on Dal for being sick. But the fact is I wouldn't be impressed if I watched a two hour comedy movie and only got a couple of laughs out of it. Give me 'One week at a time' any day...
