There'll be more on this in the weeks to come I'm sure, but can I just offer one bit of advice for purchasing especially Week 1 tickets
DONT PANIC BUY AT 9.05...THE BEST SEATS ARE NOT SOLD THEN
Week 1 games never sell out..I mean never...even if we played Collingwood they wouldnt..thre are alwyas tens of thousands of seats available when the public allocation starts on Wednesday
Last year I went online at 9.00 and the only mid-price tickets they were selling were at the front of the TOP deck of the Northern Stand. Our preferred seats on the bottom deck of the GSS werent even put on sale til well after lunch..
So dont get sucked in thinking that the best seats are the first ones you see...be patient... you wont miss out
Oh and one other tip..you cant (well you couldnt on TM last year) copy and paste the barcode numbers from a word doc or text file. They wont be recognised..you have to type them from scratch. Save them then by all means in case you need to log out and start again for whatever reason.

This is really good advice can I suggest you make it a post of its own and make it stay at the top of the first page ( I dont know the tech term for this) because in a few weeks we will all be frantic and will forget this good advice. I fall for it every year jump on quick and too scared to say no. Mind you when you have to get 8 tickets its pretty nerve racking

I've been pasting barcodes from a word doc all year (just did again for ess and nth tx) with no probs - hopefully that will still be the case for finals..........good luck!Oh and one other tip..you cant (well you couldnt on TM last year) copy and paste the barcode numbers from a word doc or text file. Tickets are dearer for NSW finals because they don't have the capacity of the MCG. It's all about dollars.i_luv_nick_riewoldt wrote:Why is it so much dearer to buy any tickets in week 3 for NSW than for VIC? Surely VIC would rather a higher price?
Brissy and Adelaide cheaper because they won't go if it's expensive.

I find with firefox, you can cut and paste the text, but in order for ticketmaster to "accept" it, I just delete one of the digits and type it in again
i.e Cut and paste 11111112, delete the 2, and then type it again.
- should save you time.
This is the first year where final series have been done through Ticketek not ticketmaster (presuming our finals are held at MCG). So maybe the system/pattern of how they release blocks at one time will be different.
Has anyone had to use ticketek this year to book tickets as soon as they were released for a busy MCG game? Notice anything of note in regards to the way seats are released?

good call on the panic buying too
i can remember last year alot of the tickets that people wanted just werent avl till later.
i go on and just keep refreshing until it gives me something i like
last year for the hawks game i managed to get level two row A behind and to a slight angle of a goal.
was well chuffed and purchased that baby.
but yeah...a lot of the 'good' areas get left back ans they seem to sell in blocks.
in all honesty as long as ya with sainters id sit on the friggin steps if i had too

Good call on panic buying.
I got in early for that final against Melbourne a few years back. Was sitting in a big block of Saints members but with possibly the worst seats in the MCG.
On the Thursday before the game they started selling seats on the 2nd level HFF, four rows from the front. Infuriating.
Raises the question as to who decides where those blocks of members seats are going to be.

No reason whatsoever why you can't post here, but a few grumpy old s***s can't handle anyone else's opinions, let alone seeing an AFL/Hawk legend when they open up their grumpy old computer. It's just too much...
This one in particular is quickly becoming the grumpiest, most argumentative one currently going around...

"Standard" seats are the dregs of the available seating..and are the only ones to rise

Is there any site where it's esy to see where the standard, premium etc seats are at the MCG ?
Or do these change every year ?
I'd like to see exactly where the best value for money seats are considering how much it will be to take a family ?
