ESSENDON will go into battle against the St Kilda invincibles on Sunday believing it can win.
--------------------
The article is mainly about the Dons but is that a new nickname heading for us if we become the undefeated champs?
Just doing some quick research we'd get to join in with these other Invincibles:

No, not getting ahead of myself but found the reference interesting.

Exciting times no doubt but a lot of OTT stuff being churned out by journos looking to better their competitors and make a story for themselves.
Perhaps there should be a Sainta clause in the rulez to spare us from this stuff time and again until we inevitably drop one.
Though did find the wikipedia Invincibles mentioned quite interesting particularly Die Sieger starring Katja Flint who also paid homage to the Bombers success with her 2000 classic...
Lid on!!

Wikipedia is often incomplete in its disambiguations.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essendon_F ... 99-2001.29
The word is being bandied about because it was last in popular use in AFL to describe the Essendon 99-01 side. And because St. Kilda is about to equal Essendon's 2000 home-and-away run, the inference is that the crown is about to be passed over.

If the Saints can do it this year my 2 football clubs will both have had unbeaten seasons in the last 5 years. Awesome!

Are you from N4, Saint_Gooner?! Leeds fan myself, but lived with some Gooners about 10m from the Arsenal Tavern on Blackstock Rd for a few years. Good craic on matchdays!Saint_Gooner wrote:P.S I look forward to adding the Saints addition to the collection in a few months
Currently in Hamburg, so I expect you all to be cheering for the lads in September on my behalf!
