Rising Star - Big McEvoy

Post: # 791535Post Spinner »

What you reckon, awesome game in terms of his development. Is he a chance?

I liken him to a 200cm Dal Santo, moves and reads the game so well for a big man!

Took some great grabs today. Primarily played as a forward, and got a holding the ball free before converting the goal.

Great signs for the future!

Is he still eligible after playing a few games now? I'm not sure about what the cutoff is, he makes it with age but has he played too many senior games.

There is no game limit. There is an age limit which is 21 or something from memory.

Clearly makes it.

Need to have 10 games or less going into the season. Only played 1 last year from memory.

Should get this weeks Rising Star nomination. :P :P :P
19 years old and only 1 senior game at the start of this year.

Eligiblity = under 21 years old and 10 senior games or less at the start of the year, not suspended.

He was 80-1 on Centrebet for the first goal. I thought he was a good chance to line up as a key forward and put $5 on it. And he kicked the second :(

But awesome game and would definitely be a chance for a nomination on that perfromance.

As a young ruckman he couldn't ask for two better mentors-

King & Gardi, Gardi & King.

Thanks boys for sharing your knowledge and skills to the youngster.

Who is this stevens you mention?

I thought Jack Steven was pretty good for a first gamer.

While McEvoy was good, there were 2 or 3 players who played better. Goldstein's 5 goals from the Ruck is the standout.

Who did Bailey play on him? Aaron Davey?

Exactly....McEvoy wasnt listed in the best in any media..except in my SS votes lol

Liam Anthony from the Roos is so overdue for a nomination its not funny..if he'd played the whole year like this he'd be pushing Rich for hte award

Sorry Jack "the ripper" Steven for my money.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I'm pretty sure Anthony is ineligible.

Anthony's not eligible, but another Roo in Goldstein will probably get the nod this week.

Goldstein will s*** it in

but Big Ben was absolutely awesome imo, was shocked when I got home that his stats were so unimpressive.

Great signs for the future with Mac and would be quite happy to see him play again this week. As well as his marking confidence growing, his mates will grow in confidence to kick it to him, so it will snowball. I very much doubt we'll want to play the 3 big guys this week though, against such a quick team. It's a nice problem to have and will keep Kingy on his toes!
