Just another opinion to the OP for what its worth....
footy can be quite peculiar at times and very difficult to predict
With a firm commitment and a conscious goal to succeed 22 so called underdogs can often overcome a more fancied opposition after 100 minutes of sustained effort
At least a third of our Sainters out there will be playing their hearts out to show that they can contribute to the rigid game plan while the remainder will be keen not to drop off in any way
They all know there is a big reward out there for the taking fast approaching... they don't come any bigger and all will want to be a part of it!
the opposition are very fragile in terms of their seasons future and their current form. They may well think that they should win this comfortably
If confronted by the fierce determined pressure that we have been able to execute for the past 18 weeks, right from the first bounce today, it could be very interesting, especially if they have to play catch up footy
I have a gut feeling we may witness something special today, if not I won't be too disappointed , unless your original prediction of a 10 goal hiding eventuates

Some weeks ago Mark FIne on SEN made a point when he stated that after watching a Geelong game, Stokes and Varcoe's opponents that day were each other. They were both playing for the 1 spot in the Geelong team come finals time.
Today we have a whole raft of players out who are automatic selections in our finals campaign team.
Playing for us today are others who are certainties but also 5-6 currently in our team who are under pressure from another 5-6 who are trying to force their way in.
All 10-12 (the incumbents and their likely replacements) will most likely do whatever the coaches want them to do just to press their case for inculsion in the team going forward.
I've come to the conclusion that today will not be as easy for the Hawks as the 'scribes' are making it sound.

Anyone ever thought that it might be just as much about testing our depth as much as resting players.
If God forbid, we do have some genuine injuries in the finals, how much do we know about our depth players and the roles they can play? Weve only used 27 players before today
Can Geary play significant onball time? Can Gardy/Mac play forward all day? Does Jack Steven have the "stuff"? Is Luke Ball back and ready to go?
Its the perfect game to find these things out. Its a Grand Final for Hawthorn so they will have a red-hot crack. The North, Dees (and possibly even Essendon) games are not the right games to try these things..they are playing for next season/draft picks whatever. You or I could play key forward and kick 5.
Plus..we get the bonus of our guns getting a week off
