Honesty
I would hope we would win this week but logic says we cannot. Anyway IMO ony one thing matters tomorrow and it isnt the 4 points. It is no injuries. Happen for anyone to come up with a logical reason why we will win.

Yes I thought that myself. It will be easy to watch. And as so many on here pointed out the underdog always gets support from the commentators. So I am looking forward to some great commentating this weekend as well.
Cant remember the year but I remember playing sydney at td a few years ago. We had a young inexperienced team. It was a draw. Wolf could of kicked the winning goal but hit the post. A very young NDS had a kick after the siren but needed to kick it 65 metres to score. No one gave us a chance, never underestimate a team willing to have a go.

we may be one game clear if Geelong win and we lose.
we may be two games clear if Geelong lose and we lose.
we may be THREE games clear if Geelong lose and we WIN!!!
Carlscum looking good with less than 9 mins. to go.

Hey Paul! As long as we are there for "The Show" (to borrow a baseball term!) in September who gives a hoot about tomorrer?!!!!!!
St Kilda forever ( God help me)
Yes thanks for that. Watching it an hour behind. May as well go to bed now. We were never losing top spot but know I have lost the rest of Friday night.BakesFan wrote:we may be one game clear if Geelong win and we lose.

No worries every other person who somehow thought we could lose top spot has now mentioned it. I have no idea how we were going to lose top spot though and I also fail to understand how this result stops the Hawks making the 8.BakesFan wrote:apologies for spoiler did not realise it was delayed for some

I find that looking at football websites during breaks in a delayed game is the best way of avoiding seeing live scores.plugger66 wrote:

Honesty?
I think we are honestly playing with our form.
Roo is not concussed has had a cold and probably should not fly again.
Nothing wrong with Montagna's elbow.
Goddard's knee may be sore, but probably has been all year.
Don't know about Lenny's back, but he looked okay the other day.
Baker has had a knee problem for two years.
Gilbert probably is injured, although you wouldn't know it after the Doggies game.
Chips is suddenly sore. So am I, it's called old age, but I don't complain.
Dal has probably gone out in sympathy.
Bally is definitely sore after possibly breaking his sternum. Why is he playing?
Kingy is definitely sore after dislocating his shoulder. Why is he playing?
Every AFL player is sore at this time of year. If they all took the day off where would we be?
I want a premiership this year. So far Ross has had all the answers.
I hope he's got this one right.
If tomorrows game was a final they all would play.
Eight of the top 22 out is flirting with form. Where is the honesty?

Also a bit worried that ross is being a bit too clever by half.
winning is a habit you don't want to break - and not this close to the finals - cats are still to recover 5 weeks down the track!
i understand the reasons and still believe we'll win in tassie - but it's a big risk IMO!
hope it pays off!

And, if we do win? RTB is not a "too clever by half" type. He has control of the best unit in town - he knows it, our (lack of) challengers know it.
For all the crap about wearing game styles, up for too long, can't keep diong this, etc, etc, our 2 best weeks were when we put the Crows and the Dogs to the sword just a fortnight ago. The footy we played was like none I'd seen before - it was the ultimate team stuff. We crushed so called contenders like bugs.
We are the benchmark and do not ever doubt the Boss, (because, fundamentally, he is the Boss).

Honesty,
St Kilda is a team, not just 6 or 7 players.
Hawthorn cannot even beat Essendon and were lucky to beat Carlton.
I have faith we can beat anyone at anytime

Wanna hear my way out there theory, RL dropped these guys cos Brent Guerra has the down - low on them and he wants to throw something at Hawthorn that they won't expect. It's a whacky theory, but it's also 3am and I worked about 16 hours today.
I'm torn by the decision, on one hand you've got people saying "Flirting with form is dangerous" and on the other, Leigh Matthews said resting players is a good idea (I'm a Leigh Matthews fan)
Either way, I'm very much looking forward to the game, Hawks can't really get anything out of this match anyway, if they win everyone will say it's because we had so many quality outs, and if they lose, well you know.

plugger66 wrote:Another honest thing is that it will be such an easy game to watch. If we lose as i suspect we may well we will not care as we will be still at least one game clear on top and if we happen to win well every side really worries even more than they do know.
Ross Lyon has, possibly and according to a few, created a win-win situation for the St Kilda Football Club this round 19 of 2009.
A) We lose the game.
We cannot drop out of the Top 2 and it is... we will still get top.
This loss, according to many people, would be a positive for our team and for our mentality - both in Club and Outer of It.
The pressure facing The Saints coming Undefeated into the Grand Final would be SUFFOCATING.
B) We win the game.
And our AURA of STRENGTH goes through the atmosphere.

I never understand the philosophy of a loss being good for us.
Do you really think the pressure will be any less come grand final day if we have one?
No chance except the media will be saying that so and so has shown teams how to beat us now.
If all we do is keep winning then our confidence stays sky high, our team feels good and we will do anything we can to keep that winning feeling.
People say every win we have is 1 closer to a loss, but that is the same with every team, though for some of them every loss they have is closer to a win.
There is no reason we should lose to anyone, if our second line cannot get the job done against the Hawks then they probably should not be here. Any loss brings doubts. Keep winning and we never have to worry about thinking that way.
