Come on, we can win this!
Confidence people, we are not giving away four points! Just have a really close look at the team, and appreciate that we actually have depth and quality!
ST KILDA
B: Jason Blake, Max Hudghton, Raphael Clarke
HB: Zac Dawson, Sam Fisher, Farren Ray
C: Jarryn Geary, Andrew McQualter, Adam Schneider
HF: Jason Gram, Justin Koschitzke, Robert Eddy
F: Clint Jones, Michael Gardiner, Stephen Milne
Foll: Steven King, Luke Ball, Nick Dal Santo
Int: Sean Dempster, James Gwilt, Ben McEvoy, Jack Steven
Emg: David Armitage, Colm Begley, Nick Heyne
We have the Hawks covered in the ruck, the backline, and about even in the midfield. I also think our forward line is much more reliable, we don't have to worry about radars being on!
Go Saints, and well done to all selected!

Bloody Oath we can win it. This is actually going to be exciting.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Wouldn't exactly say I'm confident.
Hayes, Riewoldt, Goddard, Joey, Bakes (and still no Gilbo) - I mean that is some serious, serious outs people. You'd say amongst those names are probably 4 of our top 5 in the B&F (certainly 4 of the top 5 in the saintsational player of the year!).
Having said that, I am bloody excited about the opportunity all of this presents. Can you imagine the confidence we will take into the finals if this team of 22 can get us over the line away from home?
We won't make excuses. We'll make history.

By the way - think of the huge pressure all this puts on the Hawks.
They have so much to play for, 5 of our very best players out - there will be incredible expectation from their supporters that they will win this.
We will have 22 players out there throwing caution to the wind and playing to give themeselves every chance of playing a big part in september.
We can do this.

The last few days has been absolutely hysterical! You would think we were actually MISSING 5 players. Have they not seen the 5 ins? Pretty handy and capable players if you ask me!
Also, compare our selected team to the Port team that beat the hawks last week. I don't usually bet on sporting matches, but hell, I may just start with the odds the Saints are getting now! I could make a freakin' fortune!!!!!

A good week to be out.
We dont need to win and Roo would be ineffectual in a slogfest.
King will be rested and I hope Heyne or Armo also gets a run.

Lance or James??

Why is everyone walking around listening to the "voice of doom" and all the hysteria about six changes?
It won't be an easy game to win, but what the hell have we got to lose?
I worry more about Hawthorn going the thump if it's clear they can't win and the niggling will start. That's more of a worry.
And if we start to be dictated in terms of team changes by the betting companies then we the supporters, the coaching staff, players of not only our team but the whole of the competition have a massive credibility problem. I loath the pressure coming from the betting companies. The club owes them nothing in terms of information in relation to team lists.

Indeed and I expect Ross will probably try to turn this into as ugly a game as our one against Hawthorn was a couple of years ago (at the MCG- the "worst game ever"- when we were last decimated by injuries). Expect to see the backline STACKED. Lance Franklin and Roughead against 4 of our big guys. Need to watch Cyril Rioli, Luke Hodge, Bateman and Sam Mitchell, though. Jones may go to Rioli, with McQualter tagging Mitchell. Gram to Hodge, to run off him? Pity we won't get to see the Goddard v Hodge match-up. That could have been a cracker. Could probably do with Armo in the midfield, though.ohwhenthesaints! wrote:Not to mention that the inclusions will be wanting to make a statement, they have been pushing for selection and this is their opportunity to shine.
Ball, Gardiner, Zac and Geary are good inclusions, so too-right we can win it. I just hope they actually want to and that they don't just wuss-out and roll over and have the "loss they had to have". We can go through 25-0. A team wins the flag every year. 25-0 has NEVER been done, in VFL/AFL.
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.
