Sam Fisher - is he out of form?
Reading through the threads about our backmen , and yes, we had a bad night in the back half last night. However I noticed Fish got beat a few times in one on one duels. His set up from the back half isn't giving us as much drive, and he seems hesitant when he has the ball. Most concerning to me is his body work as a defender, where he looks like he's getting pushed around.
I reckon his 1st 12 rounds were superb, but have other clubs worked him out? Not suggesting for a second he's coming close to be dropped, but he doesn't seem the same player to me as was at the start of the year.
How did it look on TV? That's how it appeared to me at the game, and how I've felt in the past 4-5 weeks.
Yes, Max was clumsy and Blakey had an off game - Fish is the key to our backline though. I have always really respected him as a backman, and would like to think that if he isn't released as a spare man to run around on his own, he can beat his opponent.

He is tagged tightly- speaking to him a few weeks ago he said it was nice to get some space- the game where he had a ripper first quarter- then they closed him down-
but whilst they are doing that someone else is able to roam. Sammy G or BJ

I saw that on the replay today, he didn't put up much of a fight. Dunno if he was just caught wrong footed or what.OLB wrote:He is nowhere near last season's form but is still crucial.
That one attempted tackle on Goodes which led to that check-side goal was particularly poor I thought.
Goodes brushed off the tackle a little too easily for mine.
I wonder if his shoulder is 100%...
Couldn't imagine them risking him if hes not 100% though and with Goose in the VFL. Might be in line for a rest with Zac and Gilbert back soon.
