I hope the club is prepared to fight!
Demitriou is talking about changing the round 22 match between Coll & W.Bulldogs to Saturday. It will totally disadvantage the top side (us) who also play on the Sunday. The likelihood is that the Saints will play one of the 2 sides and Coll/W.Bulldogs will end up having a 24 hour advantage over the us when we play the following week. St Kilda should strongly oppose the change unless the Melb v St Kilda game is also changed.

What is the reasoning for moving that match?
It seems pretty random to me....

The top team ALWAYS gets priority. Therefore, we will not be disadvantaged. Therefore, our game will be on the sunday. Unless the club specifically desires a Saturday night game, which I doubt.

They want to play one of the Qualifying finals on a Friday. Geelong is already playing on the Saturday so they want to ensure that their opponent also plays on a Saturday. Then they can play Geelong v whoever on a Friday night with both of them having six days.
We would play on the Sunday. It might be against Adelaide or Brisbane who would have had an extra day on us in any case.

Presumably if 4th spot is Brisbane or Adelaide we would be in a position to request our "Home" final to be played on Sunday afternoon at Jihad.
I imagine though we will be told that it is on the "G".
My main concern is that a money obsessed AFL will try to make us play on saturday night to boost ratings.
Forcing us to play on a 6 day break against a more rested side.
That would be OUTRAGEOUS.
The club must make it clear to Dimwit now that a Sat night final is unacceptable and totally defeats the purpose of us finishing on top.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

make no mistake this is TV driven if it happens
Ch 10 dont want a "lesser" elimination final in the marquee Fri night spot..but 3 of the current top 4 sides play Sunday in Round 22
Where will it end? First they shift the Sat arvo prelim to Saturday night for TV..giving TV ratings but handing one side 24hrs more preparation for a Grand Final..and now they may be allowed to fiddle with the Round 22 games to suit themselves

Tough luck, if they wanted the advantages they should have earnt top 4 IMO...plugger66 wrote:Probably because those 2 sides could easily finish top 4 which restricts when games can be played against us and geelong.Armoooo wrote:What is the reasoning for moving that match?

I agree. I hate the fact that TV stations that probably keep 3 clubs at least going have a say in the fixtures.saint66au wrote:make no mistake this is TV driven if it happens

Exactly, we've had (I think) six six-day breaks this year and we have won all of them (obviously).saint3d wrote:If the deciding factor of a Qualifying final is having only 7 days break to your opponents 8, then... we must be talking about a different team than I've been following this year.
I don't think that's going to effect the team in any way.
But I am sick of Collingwood always getting what they want and what is good for them so on principle I hate this idea if they consider it.
Sorry I must have missed they wanted their game moved.OneEyedSainter77 wrote:Exactly, we've had (I think) six six-day breaks this year and we have won all of them (obviously).saint3d wrote:If the deciding factor of a Qualifying final is having only 7 days break to your opponents 8, then... we must be talking about a different team than I've been following this year.
