Nick Riewoldt
I would like to put something on the forum that I don't think I have seen on here before.
I would like to make comment about how fine our Captain Nick Riewoldt is. There are many aspects to why we are doing so well this year but Nick's on field leadership, his efforts, acts of courage are inspirational and he sets the standard and the tone for the rest of the team, and are a key aspect to the way we are currently playing
Take a bow Nick, lets just hope that you will be our second premiership Captain.

Riewoldt has always had premiership captain written all over him from the start....
Just let it happen soon .....pretty please

I was absolutely wrong to think he shouldnt have been appointed captain at the time, instead favouring Lenny.
I underestimated the impact and importance off field leadership has in this day and age.
Credit to him and the StKFC.
He is the one and only bloke that should be captain of this club!
Lenny should have been appointed captain, but it was like choosing which Lord Of The Rings movie was the best one.
Thing is, the playing group voted unanimously in favor of Hayes - Riewoldt included - but the board decided the best player in the competition wasn't marketable enough - which was fair to say, as he doesn't get nearly enough media attention. Riewoldt on the other hand is the best known player at the club.

yeh...but he's well and truly grown into the role, and then some!James wrote:Lenny should have been appointed captain, but it was like choosing which Lord Of The Rings movie was the best one.

If any player started it for the passion of the jersey around in any post 66 team it was Trevor Barker imo....iwantmeseats wrote:Robbie Muir. Without he, none of this would be possible.
Barker and Harvey are names that stand above all else post '66 saints teams....
Will be thinking of them if we go all the way...

This guy lives and breathes St Kilda. He would die for this club and no man emobides what this club is about more than Nick Riewoldt (except perhaps Robert Harvey of course)
I said at the time I felt Lenny Hayes may be a better captain but happily stand corrected now. Lenny is our toughest player by far but Roo is a born leader - and courageous as hell too!
