Guess at this weeks ins and outs
Moderators: Saintsational Administrators, Saintsational Moderators
Guess the amount of "OMG why isnt Goose playing" threads started after 6pm tomorrow
My guess...4
Oh..and either no change..or possibly Geary for Eddy, just to have another look at him before finals given that he played a ripper for Sandy last week from all reports
Noone less than 100% will be taken to Sydney...so Kosi and Gardy will be given another week.

Everyone is probably jumping to conclusions about Kosi and Gardi being unavailable. As always, RL was rather cryptic about this in his press conference.
At a guess, I would expect Kosi to play and not Gardi.
The SCG is a small ground which won't really suit Eddy that much: his direct opponent won't need to cover as much ground and therefore Eddy's stamina won't be as valuable.
And, if I were the selectors, I'd be thinking that we know everything there is to know about what Eddy can do, but could still get more out of the experiment of playing Gwilt as a third forward. Also, Gwilt seems to be a touch quicker than Eddy and his size might help in the congested forward line.
I don't/can't believe that Dempster is destined to play lots of games up forward: unlike Robert Walls and some on here I thought he was relatively useless in the forward line (other than kicking one goal from 4? attempts). But then I have always had a bit of a bias against the idea of utility players: I much prefer Blake as a permanent defender, and would love to see BJ given a defined role.
Anyway, on on the above logic I'd expect to see:
IN: Kosi
OUT: Eddy
with Dempster playing at the back of midfield and BJ pushing further forward.
If they decide they want to bring Ball back this week, he comes in for Gwilt and Dempster goes on playing as third forward.
But I interpret Lyon as having said that Ball needed another week or two in the VFL to work on his team play off the ball.

I know he's not quite 100% with the stitching still in his hand, but i think kosi is crucial this week against the swans. Craig Bolton is possibly the only defender who knows how to play against reiwoldt, and on the smallest ground in the afl it will be harder for riewoldt to shake his opponent by constantly running around the ground to tire him.
With Kosi as another option up forward, we aren't so "reiwoldt-central" by having another tall option, who takes another defender away from what is probably going to be a constant double team situation. We only need Kosi to be there, take that defender, and try and bring the ball to ground in a contest so that milne, schneider, mcqualter or just our general frontal pressure can take hold and either kick a goal or force a turnover and maintain possession.
He's not 100%, but he's not 12% either. Stick a glove on him, don't play him on the ground for too long, and if the game is iced just take him off.
Maintaining our structure is crucial...

In: Gardiner (if fit)
Out: McEvoy (if Gardiner fit)
In: Genuine Tall Marking option - 1 Koschitzke, 2 Maguire, 3 McEvoy, 4 Lynch
Out: R Clarke
In: 3 of the following Dempster, Gwilt, Ball, Eddy, R Clarke
Out: 2 of Dempster, Gwilt, Ball, Eddy, R Clarke
Confused huh?
Gardiner if fit to come in place of McEvoy.
Someone must go out to allow another second tall marking option.
It simply did not work last week.
That tall marking option should be Koschitzke, but failing that my choices in order of priority would be Maguire, McEvoy retained, Lynch.
Luke Ball is a chance to come in but only 3 out of the following 5 can fit in the team - Dempster, Gwilt, Ball, Eddy, R Clarke - so 2 miss out.
Still confused, just wait for the selected team.

I thought Gardiner was someone who plants bushes and flowers not someone who kicks footballs.saintlee wrote:I believe sea is where you swim, see is what your eye's doplugger66 wrote:Wait plays for Carlton and is injured. See is where you swim.DWOODROW wrote:In - Gardiner
