Why no 50 ?

Post: # 782305Post Enrico_Misso »

5 minutes in, whistle blows and Roo gets paid.
A Bulldogs player kicks it away upfield.
At least two of the 3 umpires see it.
No 50m.

Why?

and can anyone explain how the umpire had any view on the 50 given to the dogs player. He was blind sided by at least 4-5 players. must have guessed or xray vision.

Not to mention the one where he took the mark and was pushed right in the middle of the back by the "clumsy" defender. Although he kicked that one.

Jesus Enrico. You'd complain about the umpires if they were wearing St.Kilda jumpers. The free kick count was 18 - 9 in our favour.

I backed us to win by 8 goals. Are you going to stay up all night posting in threads you don't give a f*** about?

I take greater issue with tdhe umpires being increasingly tight with players grabbing opposition after the mark, yet pushing, shoving and general scragging is ignored. The more umpires ignore such antics, the more players take part in them.

Riewoldt should've gotten at least one fifty metre penalty tonight, either for the incident mentioned or for the shove in the back he copped after another mark. It was as clear at the time as it was on the replay that the Dog defender was never in the contest and that he made two seperate motions, first a failed attempt to spoil and a second push into the small of Roo's back.

Yes when it is a crap thread. Just watched Jimmy first free and that was a disgrace. Do we start a thread for that.

:D
I have a long memory and remember some of our guys (The G Train comes to mind) hearing a whistle, believing they had the free and playing on to take advantage, only finf the free had gone the other way and then being penalised 50m.

I just want consistency.

Overall I was pretty happy with the umpiring.

Some people just have to tip sh*t on the umpires. They regard it as an integral part of going to the game. They have one eye removed before they enter the ground so can't understand why all of the umpiring decisions don't go our way.

Should have been 50, but we did win.

Soak it up and enjoy. Next week another challenge.

sooking about umpiring decisions sounds like collingwood supporters.

even if you think they're wrong, suck it up. we'll get the rub of the green next time. don't be a poor winner.

You're only a poor winner if there are losers around to read it. And if any Footscray supporters are reading this then they really are losers.

Actually Plugger I agree with you on all counts - you don't start many threads - it just seems that way :D and you did start one after this post.

Yes they must have paid us about 18 frees for holding the ball or incorrect disposal after being tackled.
It is the other frees we want.

Give us good umpiring and the premiership is ours but give us bad umpiring against Geelong and nothing is assured.

I don’t give a flying flick whether the free kick count was 50:1 in favour of the Saints.

If a 50 needs to be paid, then it has to be paid, particularly a blatant one when Reiwoldt was thrown to the ground. I still think the umpires try to influence the game sometimes. And this can happen to ALL the teams. Not just St. Kilda.

This has absolutely nothing to do with whingeing. AFL is supposed to be a fair sporting event (although with the many flaws of the draw, etc. this is debatable).

People should remember that rule 164 (j) (iii) states that opposition players can do anything to Nick without penalty.

Thought the umps were the second best group out there tonight, made far less errors than the doggies.
But would love to buy land off one particular ump - imagine if that 65 m was awarded in a GF with scores tied!
