GOOSE would be a great emotional spur for the team!

Post: # 780794Post WinnersOnly »

GOOSE would be a great emotional spur for the team and a smart selection at this stage of the season! NOT that the team is emotionally lacking but I think GOOSE is well respected around the club and to bring him back against the Bulldogs will the give our lads a huge emotional edge...

Not only that he would be a smart selection to get some AFL games into him before finals to ensure we have that big man depth in case of injuries.

For me such a selection would be just the stimulous for us to crush any Bulldogs hopes had of challenging us !

  Not entirely sure what is being implied here, but I think Goose would be concerned if he had the opposite effect on the boys!

I certainly hope not -English as a second language. My expectation is that he will be rusty as hell and that the Goose boosters may have an unrealistic expectation of him. Hope I'm wrong, I don't want to be a Goose-buster.

We don't need any emotional spurs. Wasn't Harvey supposed to do that last year?

Just keep playing like we have will be more than enough

Wrong choice of words -point taken it has been changed...

I doubt GOOSE will be rusty as he played as year in the VFL - he may take time to find the speed of the game however is worth the risk...

True but just a feeling he will jump on his chance if given, and lift the crowd and the rest of the players to new heights

I reckon using emotional spurs as a gimmick can bring you undone. Bit like giving your missus flowers every other night, in the end the effect wears off (this is my excuse for not giving flowers too often:lol: )

However, historically, milestone games or important games to respected individuals within a club appears to lift the team. Look at the dees 2 weeks ago. THe list is endless. I agree with the OP. If Ross Lyon has told goose he will play his 100th before the end of this year, then I reckon this is the week to do it. Will give the boys a lift. Goose is obviously a loved and respected player within the group, and it may give the blokes just that little bit of energy to drag them out of any lingering lethargy from the short break.

Sat night game, big game, big crowd, two top teams, big occasion for Goose - I can see our boys lifting for it. Bring on the goose I say :D
